A black band appears on scanned document

Hello,

I posted the issue with my Epson Stylus DX4450 printer a few days ago.
It has been read, but no one has given any feedback. Just to remind you what it’s about: the scanner—since it is the one causing the problem—produces files with a black bar 60mm
wide that appears down the entire height of the page; the same thing happens when I photocopy
a document. The printer itself works fine. I want to clarify that it is not a streak since the mark is really uniform (as if someone tried to obscure part of the document).
I have no idea if a simple cleaning of the scanner would be enough, but I have nothing to lose by trying. On this subject, does anyone among you know if there is a file to download that shows the step-by-step disassembly method?
Thank you in advance for your help.

    Hello Hombourgeois,

I just started a scan without any document. On the right side, there is a tube that lights up, which seems to be a neon light, and then there is a bar with small bluish glowing dots, all of which are lit up. I don’t know anything about this kind of machinery. If these are the sensors, what can I try and how should I go about it? Knowing that for these devices, the cost of parts exceeds the value of a new device, should I understand that I need to give up on this function, given that the printing function is satisfactory?
Thank you for responding so quickly. If you can tell me more, especially on attempting a disassembly and cleaning, I would obviously be interested.

    Best regards,

    Valonn02.

Given the response, I fear it might be the sensors (the "thing" that moves) and it's not economically repairable..................
So use the cartridges until the end and buy another one.

I have the same problem but following the scan of a postal envelope (magnetic strip???)

      Has anyone else experienced this?

    I see two possibilities,
a lighting failure (if it's LED rather than a "neon")
and a failure at the sensor level (more likely)

For the first one, just start a scan without a document and with the cover raised.

    Good evening Hombourgeois?

OK, I will use the device as long as the printer function is working
and will replace the machine at the first sign of weakness.

    Have a good evening,

    Best regards,

    Vallon02.
