Black band on the page when I copy!

Question

Hello,

I have a little issue with my printer: when I try to copy or scan a document (black or color), a big black band prints at the same time!!
I tried changing the cartridges but it didn’t change anything.
I managed to print a document without any problem, but it’s when I want to scan or copy that it causes issues!
Please, I really need photocopies! It's the first time this has happened to me, I've had my printer for a year now, sniff

A vertical black band 15mm wide and running the entire length appears during copying and scanning (not when printing from the PC!!!!). Has anyone ever encountered this problem?
It's an HP PSC 1510

Hello,

Apparently, it could be either the internal power supply of the scanner or the scanner's lamp.
In any case, today the smallest spare part for a printer costs as much or even more than a new printer. Unfortunately, it is not worth repairing a printer if a part needs to be replaced.

I encountered the same problem as all of you; I was already thinking about buying a new printer, but I changed and shook the black and color ink cartridges before putting them back in. And the problem was solved!

I had the same problem with a c4200 printer: a big black stripe in the middle while scanning.

solution:
I took off the cover, used a cotton swab on the lens, blew hard on it, did the same for the ribbons, I ran my finger over them and removed the dust and blew hard on them too, I put it all back together, and it works!!!!!!
no more black marks....

You just need to unplug the printer from the power supply for more than 30 seconds

In general, there are two glass panes, one for placing the originals (in this case, the sensor moves) and the other, which is narrow, for passing the original in front of the sensor when using the sheet feed. (In this case, the sheet moves in front of the sensor).
The dirt on this small glass pane creates beautiful streaks when using the feeder to make copies or scans. Indeed, in this case, the sheet moves in front of the scan, so a point on the glass gives a streak on the copy or the scan.

Same problem resolved: HP Photosmart 5510, black vertical stripes (1.5cm) and purple stripes (several of 1mm), no charger, so paper needs to be placed on glass.
Solution used: I cleaned the white panel of the lid, the glass of the scanner itself, unplugged the printer from the power supply (220V AC) and from the PC (USB) for several minutes. Repeated the power disconnection 2 times to restart the scanner initiation and everything is back to normal. Don't lose faith; at first, it's scary and frustrating, but you'll always find someone on support forums who has an idea or sparks a thought that leads to the solution.
