Hello,
I want to add an IP printer, when I click on the add button I get the following error:
An error occurred while trying to add the selected printer. The print service is not available.
And when I try to start cupsd via the terminal I get this error:
cupsd: Child exited with status 1!
Broadcast Message from root@...
(no tty) at 11:08 CEST...
cupsd[10348]: Unable to read configuration file
'/private/etc/cups/cupsd.conf' - exiting!
I tried reinstalling the printing system as indicated in the Mac help, but I still have the same error. I also tried doing:
sudo cp /private/etc/cups/cupsd.conf.default /private/etc/cups/cupsd.conf
but it still doesn't work.
Please help me because I really need the printer.

Hello,
Have you installed the updated printer driver? And the associated utility? It seems that's where the issue is occurring.
Go to the manufacturer's website and download the latest driver for your system, then install it.
Next, go to Apple menu/System Preferences/Printers & Fax/Add Printer (or configure), and if you see your printer, select it.
Is the printer properly connected to the Mac via a working USB port?
Is the printer plugged in?
