Hello, I’m looking for a way to recover video data from an external hard drive that was connected to the recording USB port of a Sony Bravia (the disk was automatically formatted by the TV when I first plugged it in) so that I can read it on my PC.
After using several software tools, I found that the disk was formatted in ext2 (Linux), but I can't see what's on the disk with Ubuntu. Is there anyone who has the patience to explain to me how to open this partition that seems to be Linux but which, in my opinion, is a derivative created by Sony (sometimes you really get caught).
Thank you in advance to those who could enlighten me.
Configuration: Windows / Firefox 12.0

Hello,
Here's what is stated in the description of the Sony KDL-32CX250 television: https://www.lcd-compare.com/televiseur-SONKDL32CX520-SONY-KDL-32CX520.htm
“Once registered with the television, the USB hard drive cannot be used with a PC. To use the USB hard drive on a PC, format it on that device. (Note that all data stored on the USB hard drive will be erased.)”
This is the same information found in the manual, which I found in German: https://www.sony.fr/electronics/support#/manual
I believe it is also in the iManual, but I do not have access to it.
It therefore seems that it may not be possible to recover data from the hard drive used for recording with Sony TVs :(
This is the drawback of the PVR function of televisions; the video file formats, or the hard drive used in this case, are often encrypted.
I encounter somewhat the same issue with a Thomson television, where recordings are BIN files that I cannot read on the computer, and therefore cannot encode :\
The only solution is to record differently, I fear.
In this forum, it is also stated that the inability to recover recordings is quite "normal": http://www.infos-du-net.com/forum/id-2120019/recuperer-enregistrements.html
However, there may be a solution; see this discussion: https://forums.commentcamarche.net/forum/affich-18851963-video-usb-kdl-ex-500-sony-bravia
Best regards
