When I plug my USB drive into the TV, it asks me to format it in order to record my shows. I've done a couple of tests on some shows and then plugged my USB drive into my PC. As soon as the drive is recognized, the PC asks me to reformat it. So basically, it's impossible to access the content of the drive through the PC. But on the TV, everything is fine.

No, the link above isn't very helpful.
You need to know what type of the recorded file is. If you have the file type, you will find your answer on Google; a simple software should suffice, but it depends on what the type is.

(assuming you can read the files on your USB drive, see them, and not just get that formatting message)

Have you tried with another USB drive?

Indeed, some TVs format USB keys or hard drives for PVR recording according to a proprietary format.
However, some TNT adapters allow PVR recording without reformatting the external storage (thus without data loss) and "in clear," meaning in the form of .ts files that can be easily viewed, for example, with VLC. For instance, the OPTEX brand produces an HD TNT decoder that records all broadcasts (including HD) in clear. The only limitation is that the output file size is limited to 1 GB; longer movies are recorded in multiple files, which can easily be concatenated later, for example:
copy /B data0001.ts + data0002.ts +data0003.ts data.ts

I don't know much about it, but when you talk about a USB stick, I suppose you mean a simple storage key, and so when you insert it into your PC, it tells you that.
It is possible to recover the data that was on it if you format your key. I say "possible." Recovery software exists.

Now, do you absolutely have to format it? I'm not sure about that.

I understand what you wanted to do.

But what's unclear to me is:

- So you have a television and a USB key. Do you already have recordings on your USB key? How did you record on your key?

- You say that your key shows an error message on your PC, but that's a different issue. If inserting your key into your PC gives you that message, it has nothing to do with the possibility of viewing your files from the TV on the PC.

Hello,

I'm also looking for how to recover recordings made on my Sony Bravia on the USB PVR Port to my PC (Windows).
I know that:
1) The USB drive must be formatted in FAT32
2) The drive must be at least 32GB
The recordings work because I can play them back on the Sony.
But once connected to the PC (Windows XP): the drive is recognized but the partition is unknown: RAW.
I asked a relative if they could do something under Linux. Waiting for a response.
While browsing other sites, it seems to be some sort of protection: your recordings belong to you but sharing is apparently forbidden by Sony. Thank you
