Hello,
I am on Mac OSX 10.6.8 and I would like to create a timeline for my Arts History project in 9th grade. I have been looking for a long time but to no avail. Could someone please help me?
Thank you :)

Sorry, I actually made a mistake; I want to get a STRIP. But it's okay, I'll fix my issue manually. Thanks anyway to everyone

Thank you very much for your Excel document, but unfortunately I have "Numbers," an Apple software equivalent to Excel, and the document works but displays a curve instead of a timeline. Do you know how to create a timeline in my spreadsheet/charting software? Thank you.
I don't know Numbers.
But if you say it's equivalent to Excel, you're doing like my example: A "Curves" chart with columns A and B selected for the X-axis, A containing the dates and B the events; column C only contains zeros, since it's not the representation of the Y-values that interests us, but the display of the X-values.
You didn't tell me if you were able to open my file...

And what software do you have?
Normally, it will be easiest with Excel or Calc.

Thank you very much Eric, but actually I'm in quite a hurry and I find this tutorial a bit... long. :) Besides, I'm using the software "Numbers" and making the connection between Excel and my log will take me too much time. Thank you again. I think I'm going to make my timeline by hand and stick it in my folder if I don't find a solution quickly.
The best thing would probably be for you to install LibreOffice for Mac, which is compatible with Excel, and to abandon Numbers.

On the contrary!!! The IWORK suite from Apple is really, really awesome! It's super simple! I worked on "Keynote" (the equivalent of PowerPoint) and the effects are fantastic!! Nothing compared to Microsoft Office!! ... ... Just the little timeline problem that annoys me... But it's okay, I will make it by hand, neatly, and glue it onto my folder. Thanks anyway, everyone.

To build, co-build, or animate timelines, there are now many software options; * Simile, a widget designed by MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology) to visualize events (open-source software) * Chron'OOo; a plugin for OpenOffice Draw; can create axes or timelines (with tutorial) * XTimeline, a platform for exploring, creating, and sharing timelines where events can be commented on. At each event, images, videos, Flash sequences... can be associated. To use XTimeline (Free registration required) * SmartDraw, creates graphs and representations with ready-to-use timeline templates that easily integrate into word processors, spreadsheets, and presentations (trial version or paid) * CircaVie, an interactive timeline with the addition of photos and videos at temporal points to annotate. Each timeline created with CircaVie is presented as a Flash file with the capability of export to a website or blog. * Timeline Maker; simple, with horizontal or vertical mode, but paid, with a 30-day trial available for download on the official site + tutorial (French). * OpenMind 2; from MatchWare; allows export of "timeline" files in multiple formats (paid with trial version) * IN-HEH Timeline; Timeline editor & search engineIf this can help you ...
