canon mp 150 Solved

Question

Hello, I have a Canon Pixma MP 150 with a built-in scanner. The cartridge is almost new, and it was working perfectly until an hour ago. Then I tried to scan a black and white document directly with the printer, and since then it shows an error message on the LCD screen (E 3), and I can't do anything. I can't check the cartridge because it is stuck at the back , and the diagnosis on the PC indicates that there is a paper jam, but I've checked and there is absolutely nothing. What should I do? I'm working on important documents, and I'm stuck. Please help me. Thank you in advance.

Good evening everyone, I faced the same problem as you, the E followed by a number, most often 2, 3, or even 5, and well I just fixed this situation.  I'll share what I did:  First, I took an A4 sheet and then used my (wonderful) origamist skills as follows ;p, Fold the sheet in half lengthwise, then again in half the other way, you then get a...piece of paper that's about 10.5 cm by 15 cm... do you have the same? fantastic! Let's move on to the next step :) .  Then turn off your (fabulous) printer that you love so much, and slide your new paper accessory into the back opening of the infernal machine (we turned it off because otherwise, it's painful :s), push it in well and turn on your printer, until the little paper is caught by the printer and spits out at the front!.  And there.....Surprise, I discovered a candy wrapper and a match... who would have thought. ^^  Now for those who didn't appreciate my humor, here's something more serious ^^ (you can't please everyone)  Take a normal A4 sheet of paper, fold it in half and then in half again, turn off your printer, hold your piece of paper firmly and insert it into the paper tray at the back of the printer, turn it on and make sure the piece of paper is pulled into the printer, retrieve the piece of paper at the front, and you're done.  Hoping to have helped most of you, and apologizing to those for whom my explanation was useless or incomprehensible ^^ (or both ^^ )... Hello, well I have exactly the same problem. My MP150 printer was working perfectly and since I removed the empty black ink cartridge, the scanner no longer works. It shows E and 5 flashing. OK after having folded many reams of paper and also having a whole yard of little ducks here is perhaps, I say perhaps, a solution for your PIXMA 150 First your MP is out of service 2 remove your USB cable 3 reconnect the MP to service 4 on the left side of the control panel you have a button with a screwdriver and a pair of pliers perform all the maintenance operations by pressing it "except for number 1" But for everything else do it "follow the procedure there is an A that appears press on color if you have it then on black or color as you want and so on until the display shows 1 5 of course MP out of service reconnect the USB cable And if all goes well it works the E2 error has disappeared Let me know if it works for you Sincerely, your Pigniouf

So, Canon goes in the trash and I bought an Epson. Canon sent me an email asking if I was satisfied with their customer service, I haven't taken the time to respond yet, but it's going to be harsh...   Don't dream, at Epson it will be the same or worse; I work in an office equipment service company and Epson is truly a disaster with their ridiculous ink. Moreover, if customer service charges you €100, it's simply because the time the person will spend fixing your multifunction printer and handling all the paperwork, etc... it should cost even more than that, this error is 99% due to the user so it's logical that customer service gets paid for the repair.  To get back to this famous E3, just look when you open your multifunction printer you have 4 white rollers pressed by springs on a gray shaft. Behind the one on the right you see a detector mask arm, you will likely find a piece of paper, a thumbtack or I don't know what else that usually has fallen into the printer through the paper feed tray; if it's really stuck and you can't dislodge it by turning the printer upside down and shaking it a bit, gently leverage under the support plate of the 2 rollers on the right and try to extract whatever is blocking the detector from there, otherwise, it's disassembly of the printer, there's no choice!!

Hello, I also had this problem but I found the best solution. I took apart the printer and found some junk inside that the little ones had put in there. Taking it apart is easy; you just need a screwdriver and make sure to look carefully inside because there are some screws that are hidden, and above all, don’t force anything. If you’re not handy with this kind of stuff, ask someone in your family who is a bit of a handyman. You’ll see it’s not complicated.

Hello,  I had the same problem as you guys.  But after searching for the source of this problem, I found that it came from the cartridge, yes indeed. The Fine cartridge was not properly installed.  At first, I was shocked, neither the scanner nor the printer worked as before. E 5 kept appearing on the LCD screen and after that, see what I did for you... you can simply solve these problems by following the instructions:   If the screen displays E.2, do this: Reinsert the paper correctly and press [Black] (Black) or [Color] (Color).   E 3: In case of a paper jam, clear the jam, then reload paper into the printer and press [Black] (Black) or [Color] (Color).   E4: The ink may be depleted. Replace the FINE cartridge and close the scanning unit. If the lines appear misaligned or the result is unsatisfactory, perform an alignment of the FINE cartridge. If a print job is in progress and you wish to continue, press [Black] (Black) or [Color] (Color). Printing may then continue even if the depleted ink condition persists for this FINE cartridge. Replace the empty FINE cartridge immediately after printing. Print quality will not be satisfactory if printing continues while a depleted ink condition exists.  E5: The FINE cartridge may not be installed correctly, or the FINE cartridge may not be compatible with this printer. Install the appropriate FINE cartridge. If the lines appear misaligned or the result is unsatisfactory, perform an alignment of the FINE cartridge.   E7: Some FINE cartridges are not installed in their correct place. Install the FINE cartridges in the appropriate slots.   E8: The waste ink absorber is nearly full. The ink used for cleaning is absorbed in a waste ink absorber installed in the machine. <E, 8> indicates that the waste ink absorber is nearly full. Press [Black] (Black) or [Color] (Color) to cancel the error and continue printing. If this error occurs, it is necessary to replace the waste ink absorber and perform maintenance on the machine. Canon recommends contacting a Canon customer service representative as soon as possible. Once the waste ink absorber is full, printing is impossible until it is replaced.   E9: Depending on the model or brand of your device, you may need to select a PictBridge-compatible printing mode before connecting it.  You may also need to power on your device or manually select Playback mode after connecting it to the printer. Perform all necessary operations following the instructions in the manual provided with the device.  If the error persists, the device or digital video camcorder may not be compatible with this machine. Use a camera or video camcorder that is compatible with this machine.   E 1.5: FINE cartridge errors have occurred. Replace the FINE cartridge.   E 1.6: The FINE cartridge has already been used, or the ink may be depleted. The remaining ink level detection function will be disabled since the ink level cannot be detected correctly. If you want to continue printing without this function, press the [Black] (Black) or [Color] (Color) button. Canon recommends using genuine new Canon cartridges for optimal quality.   E 1.9: The document format cannot be correctly detected or the document is too small when the Paper Copy Scale is selected. Make sure the document meets these requirements and is properly placed on the Exposure Glass. Then, reload the document correctly and press [Black] (Black) or [Color] (Color).   If your LCD screen displays these cases:  E, 2, x  E, 3, x  E, 4, x  An error requiring troubleshooting may have occurred. Turn the machine OFF and unplug the power cord. After a while, plug the machine back in and turn it ON. If the problem persists, contact a Canon customer service representative.   And there you go, the Canon PIXMA 150 problem is 100% resolved, no need to buy another one; you just need to follow these ACTIONS; otherwise, your machine is damaged.

The error E5 means that the cartridge needs to be replaced. Indeed, I use refilled cartridges that are half the price. Canon and other brands look unfavorably upon cartridge refilling. They trap their electronic circuit of the print head in order to force users to buy new cartridges, hence the prohibitive error E5. For the other errors E2, E3... just press the black or color print button and it will work again.

Hello everyone! Problem encountered with the printer: The paper is going in crooked and the printer displays: E... Disassembly of the printer. Remove the 4 back screws. Take off the gray front panel (clipped underneath) Remove the 4 horizontal screws that have now become visible Pull off the left side Pull off the right side (clipped underneath) Remove the 2 upper back screws Remove the 2 screws from the output hatch Gently lift the whole assembly to the left and check if anything is stuck in the paper feed path Personally, I found a thumbtack pointing upwards. This printer needs a protective cover. Before disassembling, try the method of folding a sheet of paper in four. Good luck everyone. Bill

Hello everyone   I've had a Canon Pixma mp160 printer for two years now  bought on Cdiscount  received without a USB cable, and with a manual in Eastern European languages (not even in English or French) ... anyway   It has been used 5-6 times until a paper got jammed and since then I've been getting error message E2, with the orange LED and the power On/Off flashing  so I've looked everywhere online to find the manual  I only found it in English  and no explanations (or very few) on this type of error message   and then hooray I stumbled upon this forum  I read and tested Loic's technique  and to my surprise, the wrinkled paper was swallowed and the error message disappeared  BUT...  impossible to do anything and once turned off and on again, still the same error message  I had to repeat the technique 100 times, making sure to check everywhere and no bits of paper, nothing   so I decided to carefully disassemble the device  it's quite easy, you just need to take your time  (read the method from the person just above, it's almost the same)  but be careful when you lift and tilt the cover + scanner to the left, you have some rather fragile connections on the mp160 and if you’re not careful you might unplug or even pull out some connectors from the circuit  personally, I unplugged the little white connector (by the way, their connectors are really short) and upon restarting, it gave me the error message E-4-2  once plugged back in, the error message reverted to E-2 ... great lol   Otherwise, I really cleaned everything thoroughly, carefully disassembled certain parts like the four white rollers held by 4 or 5 springs, the cartridges, the small gray plate (the one with lots of little wheels) in front of the four white rollers  I even blew some compressed air everywhere  I removed a few dust bunnies and that's it and still the same   so I still don't know what to do....  It's the first time I've bought Canon  Maybe it's not the most expensive printer but I'm really disappointed... 60€ for 5 photocopies is quite pricey  and the most annoying part of all this is that it’s so well designed that the scanner refuses to work (error message on Windows)   so I really think it's going to end up in the trash  but Canon printers never again! I tried the trick with the piece of paper, I checked everywhere to see if there’s any hidden junk, I pressed all the buttons, called the customer service hotline who finally told me to send my machine to the Rennes service center, the closest one, which might cost me a fortune and take a long time before I can use it again. Hello everyone.  For those who might be interested, I have a CANON MP160. For several days now, when I try to print, a window pops up saying "Absorber full, contact customer support." But here's the thing, CANON will charge you more for this service than the printer itself. So I solved the problem in the following way:  1-Open the printer. 2-Locate the absorber, which is the sponge pad located under the axis where the cartridges move. If you touch it with your fingers, the ink will stain you. So no mistakes possible. The ink deposits on this absorber and solidifies. Therefore, it can no longer pass through this sponge. 3-Take cotton swabs, dip them in distilled water, and clean the absorber. Immediate effect, it works right away!!!  So don't waste your time with Canon's customer service!!!

Hallelujah!! A little perseverance! A lot of nonsense and voila, it works!! Bye bye E 5!! Yay!! I used the origami solution but nothing at all... so I unplugged then disconnected the USB cable! Then I fiddled with everything! At first, I couldn’t use the key and after removing the paper and taking out and replacing the E3 cartridges, the wrench key unlocked and I messed with all the buttons!! Good luck to all of you who might encounter this, but there’s no need to call a technician if it’s out of warranty... just do a lot of nonsense :) May the force be with you!!

I received an error message E3 on the printer, the sheets were no longer passing through it.
I tried to follow the advice given above but it didn't work. Indeed, I dismantled the printer and there was a surprise: I discovered that 3 out of 5 springs were blocking the movement of the sheets, so I removed the 3 and left 1 spring on each end (2). Be careful, everything has to be taken apart! I reassembled the printer and then it worked like new. It took removing 3 parts for the printer to function. Just a small tip for those who find themselves in the same situation as I did, do what I did and don't pay €100.

In fact, if you want to stop worrying, you completely dismantle your printer and remove 3 springs from the inside while keeping the springs at the ends, and then it's all good, no more hassle. Hello, I know nothing about printers, but I ventured with mine. I've been having problems with error 3 for a month now. I stumbled upon this site by chance, and now I'm PROUD of myself, my printer WORKS!!!!!!!!!!! It may seem incredible to you, but after all the advice, I found a piece of cereal, ahhhhh kids!!!!!! But despite that, it still doesn't work, and that's not all, I also found my MEMORY CARD with my photos and videos from Christmas and my vacation that I thought were lost. I had lost it a month ago, I thought I had vacuumed it up and thrown it away, showing that you can find treasures in your printer. Now the printer is elevated, the only thing that can fall inside is dust, while waiting to find a suitable drawer, especially one with a door. So if you have an ERROR 3, look carefully in the back right where you put the sheets, maybe you will find a lost treasure??????

I have had a new Canon MP540 for 4 days
Nothing in the manual prohibits attempting to print papers in the size of a standard envelope (162 x 114)
but a attempt through the lower loader ended with a paper jam. And it was not possible to remove that pesky piece of paper which was not sticking out from anywhere. I saw the moment when I would have to take my machine back to my vendor for disassembly.
On this forum, Loïc Seguin recommended inserting "more or less forcefully" a long folded paper as a suppository to help the machine eject it. I used a piece of cardstock like bristol directly in A4 format, turned the printer off and then on again and indeed, the cardboard came out automatically with the intruder.
Then, not hesitating to live dangerously, I tried through the rear loader with an envelope, as if I were printing a photo.
Miracle, it worked!
Since I have 70 envelopes to send, I will just copy and paste from my list.

The paper jam indication doesn't necessarily mean that there is paper stuck. After manually feeding a sheet through the output, I freed a hair tie.

Hello, thank you for all your advice. I had the same issues as you, errors E2 and E3, and yet there was nothing. Finally, I tried the trick with the folded sheet of paper and that didn't work either. Eventually, I took two sheets that I had laminated and put them in my printer, and to my surprise, a sunflower seed came out. We had to push a bit to get it out, but we could feel that something was stuck. I'm really happy.

Error E3 but with an MP160.I used a strip of cardboard (cut from a cookie box) that I slid in on the right side at the back of the printer,the cardboard was taken and then the printer ejected it backwards and a RAM stick came out!!!Funny enough, I had examined it thoroughly with my wife and we hadn't found anything.

Hello, having had the unpleasant experience of buying a supposedly compatible cartridge, I can tell you that the infamous E5 would correspond to an electrical alteration of the cartridge's small diodes at the back. I was told to moisten them with a piece of paper towel; I did so, but unfortunately, even after changing the cartridge, the message remains. But perhaps this could be useful for others, good luck.

Really great the folded paper trick!  I had just bought some expensive new cartridges, and feeling delighted I tried to print... and then: paper jam. No matter how much I scrutinized that cursed printer from every angle: no paper inside. I started to take it apart, but afraid of causing an irrevocable disaster, I tried the folded paper trick without much hope... and then surprise! What comes out of the printer? A nice 20 cent coin! Hello,   I spent an hour feeding folded paper into my Pixma 150  without any results.   Until I changed the type of paper, I switched from:  "extra glossy photo paper 2" to "extra glossy photo paper".   I tested several times, the "E3 paper jam" error appears and then disappears.   In my opinion, it’s a compatibility bug, remember to test the type of photo paper before printing.

Hello everyone,   For those for whom Loic's solution didn't work, I propose this one...  ERROR 5 -> RESOLVED  Take nail polish remover, put some on a wipe, and thoroughly clean the electrical contacts... make sure it's dry before turning it on (Clean both the cartridge and inside the printer... ;) (you can replace the nail polish remover with rubbing alcohol or vinegar... and scrub harder... ;)  :P a printer is good for life! You just need to refill the cartridges... ;) Otherwise, it costs an arm and a leg!  Fakstory
