Hello,

I just picked up an old PHILIPS 504 turntable; it works perfectly except for a small issue with the platter speed.
Indeed, to properly play a 33 RPM record, I have to set the turntable to "45 RPM" and to play a 45 RPM record, I have to hold the button between 45 and 78, which is not very practical...
Does anyone know what might be causing this and how to fix it properly?

    You likely have a belt issue due to its aging.

    You need to open the device to see if there is a belt tensioner.

    Also, a cleaning of the rotation rollers is necessary. (belt residue)

      Not agreed: The GF 504 turntable does not have a belt; it has a pressure roller that turns inside the platter.
      There is a spring that pulls the roller onto the inside of the platter; that’s the one causing the problem.
      Be careful, if the spring is too tight, it won't work either.

      Indeed, the problem was with the (deformed) roller. I replaced it and everything works correctly.

      Hello, I bought a Philips turntable, but it doesn't turn even though everything else works, the speakers, etc. There is no belt on this model. I think there is a motor issue. Should I call in a repairman or is there someone who could help me?
