How to exit multi-screen mode

Hello,
Following some random settings, I'm stuck...
I have a computer with only one video output. In Windows display settings, I unfortunately activated a second screen (which does not exist) as the main display. As a result, I only see the extended Windows desktop (screen #2). So when I right-click to adjust the display, I can't see the dialog box since it appears on the main screen (which does not exist).
How can I return to a single display setup when I can't access the settings window???

Configuration: Windows XP / Internet Explorer 8.0

Hello

Try starting your PC in safe mode...

F8 before Windows starts

Hi

Aside from a system restore in safe mode, I don't see too many solutions...

Restart the PC, tap F8 during startup (before Windows loads), choose from the Advanced Boot Options: Safe Mode or Safe Mode with Networking.

Then go to Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > System Restore > choose a date prior to the haphazard setting...
Before asking a question: 1° Turn on your brain; your PC doesn't think for you!
2° Google is your friend, the search engine from CCM is too, do a search!

Thank you...
it works again by using safe mode ... I hadn't thought of that!!!
However, I still have my display size settings issue.
Windows offers me different display formats including 1280x960, which does not match my screen panel.
How can I force the display to 1280x720???

Your monitor is not properly recognized or the display driver is not/malfunctioning.

Did you change your computer's screen after installing the system?

It doesn't seem to me...
The computer in question is a laptop whose screen is dead. I'm putting it in the living room with a display on my TV (LED) at the native resolution of 1980x1080.
When I'm on my couch, this resolution is a bit small! So I wanted to switch to 1280x720, which would give me a proper character size while keeping the screen format (the image a bit squeezed, flattened in 1280x960).
Do you think I should reinstall Windows?

If your phone's screen is in 4:3 (1024x768 for example), that's a bit normal; you need to disable the built-in screen to use only the external monitor (the TV) so that there are no "aspect ratio" conflicts (not a 16:9 monitor and a 4:3 one, for example).

I indeed think that was the case, initial screen format 4:3. It must probably be already disabled as I cannot switch (through the keyboard shortcut).
While digging through the display settings dialog, I cannot find anywhere to disable it otherwise...

If the projector or your TV has this resolution > maximum 1980x1080.
You can't change anything about it.
You will have black bars on your screen. Top/Bottom or on the sides!

Hello
Have you restarted your PC?
If not! Restart and tap F8 to enter safe mode.
If you succeed > Do the repair or F8 and system restore.
