Hello, I'm 12 years old and I play guitar with my friends. We would like to start a music band; one of my friends plays piano, another one sings, and another one sings and plays guitar like me.
But we don't know how to write good songs, compose music with instruments, and we don't know any free software to record.
If you have any ideas, please let us know.
THANK YOU!!!

Hi! I'm a bit late, but I hope to be useful anyway!
To form a group, you need members, or at least one, but that's a different story for rhythm boxes and all... And a passion! You need plenty of time to get together (rehearse...) and then, well, compositions!
For compositions, it seems logical not to put, for example, sad lyrics on a nice, festive little rhythm... although it could work well! :D Let's innovate!!
For the lyrics, you need inspiration! I often compare it to writing assignments in middle/high school... except that for lyrics, you shouldn’t set a fixed theme! Otherwise, it’s going to be a struggle!!
My inspiration, (when it comes quickly...) is: in the shower, in the middle of the night, upon waking up, or when I'm not feeling well (angry, sad... strong emotions!)
ESPECIALLY, when you're inspired, you mustn’t think, oh, I’m too lazy to grab a piece of paper... I’ll do it later... THAT DOESN'T WORK! I've already tried, the number of ideas I've lost because of my laziness...
So to summarize:
- A group (that seems to be good on this point)
- Inspiration (in terms of both music AND lyrics)
- Quiet times, and others for rehearsals.
- Don’t hesitate to say, "next Sunday, we’re not leaving the room until we've worked on this or that song"
- Listen to songs of the genre you’d like to make, and in detail, take one (private, otherwise it's copyright issues and all that...) and analyze it (title, meaning of the lyrics, rhymes or not...)
Well, I hope I've helped a bit, keep me updated!
