My screen turns off by itself Solved

Question

Hello, my problem is that my screen turns off by itself and completely randomly, and this happens right as I’m typing this text.
I have searched a lot on the internet in forums and I have tried all the solutions I found, but nothing works, it turns off by itself. Even if I unplug my PC from my screen, it still turns off. If you have a solution, please tell me; I'm starting to believe that my screen is possessed...
I have already tried:
- updating the driver for my screen (Windows tells me there’s no better software and I can't revert to the previous driver, the button is grayed out)
- I changed the power cable of the screen
- I let the screen rest overnight
and I must be forgetting some other things, anyway... I need help, I don’t have another screen
I should mention that I can turn it back on immediately with the button.

You know what? It's a bit late, I think, but for everyone who was looking and couldn't find anything on forums, here's my answer! Simply, I had the DDC/CI option in the advanced settings of my monitor and there, poof, it's working again :D

Hi,

Have you tried disabling your screensaver?

It's strange that it starts up while you're working on your PC anyway...!

Right-click on the desktop > Personalize > Screensaver

Set it to "None".

Then go to:

Control Panel\Hardware and Sound\Power Options\Change plan settings

In the menu on the left, click on "Choose when to turn off the display" and select "Never". For "Sleep" as well.

If it continues, I don’t know.

Don't forget to save the changes afterwards...

I had the same problem before. Remember to dust off your fan with something special for that (I forgot the name) or if you don't have it, use the vacuum cleaner. Don't believe it, but dust accumulates quickly in there...

If I could advise against one thing, it's the vacuum cleaner; a dry air cartridge with a pulsed function is made for that, and a fine, soft artist's brush, nothing more. But apparently, it comes from the ON/OFF button of the screen itself, so not really a solution.

Hello everyone,

I also have a problem with my screen. My screen turns off if I don't touch my computer for a certain period of time... yet in the control panel, the screen sleep mode is set to 'off'. By the way, I checked all the options and categories of sleep in the control panel, and I set everything to off, and it still doesn't do anything. If I leave for a certain time, I have to leave a movie playing on loop to avoid my screen turning off. I could just turn off my computer when I step away, but there are things I need to keep running for specific reasons. I use it for my work. Oh yes, it's a desktop PC. My screen is a Viewsonic 24". When it turns off, the light turns orange as if my computer is also off. When I try to turn the screen back on, it says "no signal" and the screen goes back to the orange light. Normally, the light should be blue when it receives a signal. The light is orange when everything is off. However, I haven't had the chance to test my computer on another screen yet. I'll do that during the day and keep you updated.

Hello Sharko, I've just read the specifications of the ViewSonic 24" LED - VX2451mh-LED, and I'm not sure if it's the model you have, because there are actually 3 models in 24", but in the main specifications of the one mentioned, it states:
Eco Mode: reduce power consumption and significantly extend the backlight life, could it simply be that this Eco Mode is enabled by default when it leaves the factory?

I assume that there should be adjustment buttons and an internal menu on this screen, so it's worth checking if this Eco Mode is activated.

It's a VX2433 1080p in 24", there is indeed an Eco mode but no way to turn it off. In this mode, there’s only standard, optimized, and conserve. However, in the display settings itself, there is a "response time" mode. I don't know what that is but I remember I had set it to advanced. In this mode, there are standard, advanced, and ultra-fast. Could that have anything to do with my problem? I changed it because I thought it might correspond to the screen's calculation speed...but it might also be the waiting time before the screen turns off. I will look into this mode because I really don't know what it is. I set it back to standard. In any case, thank you, I will do some research on my side and let you know. Thanks to you^^

I completely did a reset, or at least I think it's a reset, by choosing the "memory recall" mode. I'm going to let it run for a while and I'll see how it goes. If it works, I'll set this post to "resolved".

I also had the same problem. After a long time, I discovered that it was spying on my PC (running Windows 7).... then I installed Windows XP and changed the administrative properties under Windows XP and it works niKKKelL..
