No internet connection with Ethernet cable

Question

Hello, After a week of archaeological digging through various forums of our encyclopedic internet, I am allowing myself to leave a post because I'm at my wit's end!!!!  For some time now, my computer has been acting up: I can't connect to the internet, neither via Wi-Fi nor with an Ethernet cable.... For your information, Freebox and Vista.  I don’t know what else to do............ If you could help me out, that would be really REALLY kind (I believe in Santa Claus)  Thanks in advance and Merry Christmas   Configuration: Windows Vista / Firefox 8.0

Hello,  Check in the device manager if everything is okay with the network; if you see a yellow ? or !, reinstall the driver. You should have two cards, an Ethernet card and a Wi-Fi (wireless) card.    If the PC is a brand-name computer (for example, Acer), go to the manufacturer's website with the PC reference, then in the support tab, download the driver(s) onto a USB stick, and then execute them on the PC in question.  -- Best regards, exla

Hello, The problem is that I tried to do a system restore, but with all the manipulations I've done, I don't have a restore point with a functioning internet.....  I'm a beginner in computing... What additional information do you need???? The computer detects the Free wifi network but remains in limited connection.... The little lights turn on when I plug in the ethernet cable, but there's no internet....  Thank you for your help.

Under "Network Adapters" there are: - Microsoft Loopback Adapter with a small downward arrow on it - Intel (R) Wireless Wifi Link 4965AGN normal - Realtek RTL8101E Family PCI-E Fast Ethernet NIC (NDIS 6.0) normal When I click on the properties of the last 2 "This device is working properly"

re  Okay for the drivers, leave it as it is.  On the PC you are connected to right now, make sure that the router mode and DHCP are enabled in the Freebox interface.
