Hello,
I have been having a problem for a few months: I simply cannot delete emails in my inbox on my Mac.
Whenever I try to delete them, the following message appears:
The IMAP command "UID COPY" (to Deleted Messages) failed for the "INBOX" mailbox due to a server error: Error in IMAP Command UID COPY: Invalid uidset
... So, I looked at several forums, recommending to rebuild the "mail", but after many attempts ... it doesn't work!
I have the same problem in the spam folder: two emails are also in there; and when I click on "delete," they disappear, only to reappear 10-15 minutes later.
As I am not very knowledgeable, I am urgently requesting your help.
Thank you in advance!
Sebastien

Hello,
You might want to check how Mail is set up in its preferences.
Mail / Preferences... / Accounts / >Mailbox behavior..
At the very bottom, in the "Trash" section, check if the box "Store deleted messages on the server" is ticked or not. It seems to me that for an Imap account, this box should not be checked, as it contradicts the operation of an Imap account...
It's just a simple lead to follow..
Good luck
Always provide your EXACT CONFIGURATION: Mac model and Mac OS version!

Thank you very much for your quick help!
I did exactly what you suggested, and... even though I can now delete the two emails from my inbox without any error message, as soon as I switch to another folder (for example, the spam folder), I realize that the emails are still there.
After that, if I go back to my main inbox, I find the two previously deleted emails reappearing as if by magic!
So I tried to rebuild the folder before/after deleting those emails, but I’m still facing the same issue: the emails keep reappearing.
Do you have any other ideas?
Thank you in advance.

It seems like an error on the mail server. As if the messages in question are not being deleted from the IMAP account server.
But do one more thing. Force Mail to rebuild the index file for that Mail account.

Sorry for the delay in responding, but I have this issue with the company's Mac that I work for... my IT manager won't be back until January, so unfortunately, I won't be able to test your solution until next year, as you recommend using the OS CD, which I don't have.
I'll keep the solution in mind and will try it once my IT guy is back.
Have a great day and a Happy New Year!
Thank you very much for the question and the answer from 2011, which is still valid.
