NetAddictFree is an original parental control software: it is based on dialogue between parents and children to define together the rules for using the computer and browsing the internet.
Educational parental control.
Initially, the approach involves knowing the daily duration of computer use by children. Parents can view and/or receive via email statistics on usage durations.
Then, if this duration is deemed excessive, the child may receive a "time credit." Experience shows that children very quickly take ownership of this time allocation because the software allows them to track their consumption in real time. They even tend to spontaneously shut down their computer to save time, which also saves electricity!
To reinforce the time credit, it is possible to restrict access to certain websites only during specific hours of the day. For example, during homework time, time-consuming sites such as social networks or online games can be prohibited.
Finally, it is possible to know the browsing history on the internet (even if the child knows how to delete the history in their browser). This will help parents refine access restrictions to certain sites.
The NetAddictFree parental control easily adapts to the different situations of a family and according to the age of the children.
Here are some examples for primary school, middle school, and high school:
For a child in primary school (CE1): the child receives a time credit of 1 hour per school day, and 2 hours on Wednesdays, Saturdays, and Sundays. The homepage of their browser is a games site. The main search engines are blocked by the NetAddictFree parental control.
For middle school: 2 hours per school day, 3 hours on weekends, and internet blocked at night.
For high school: the same as middle school with a request from the child not to be tempted to go on social networks during homework time. My daughter calls it educational parental control.

well, a quick test of netaddictfree
I’m going to be tough, but the verdict is clear, I will not use it at home (in its current version)
I took a well-known site like in the tutorial available on the site, blocking it from 10 to 12 o'clock for testing
I also activated the internet time limitation for 10 minutes
I open Firefox, it shuts down (normal)
I open IE9, it opens on Bing (????, that's not the default search engine) with a pre-filled search on "netaddictfree blocking," I can’t surf (but I still open an msn favorite)
I open Chrome, same block
I re-open Firefox with IE9 and Chrome still open and there, boom, Firefox opens, and I go to the well-known site without any issues and without any restrictions even though my internet time is exceeded and the well-known site is blocked during this time frame
let's add to that the netaddictfree process is marked as such in the task manager protocols, thus easily identifiable, and it can be terminated without problems
the automatic startup of the software happens via a shortcut in the startup folder, no need to type msconfig to disable it!!! (it is possible in msconfig and it’s less noticeable since it can be reactivated when you finish surfing in the unauthorized time slots)
plus a few more or less annoying bugs that appeared while testing the software (Firefox tabs that open by themselves, config window turning white during time slots, logs that don’t log anything regarding blocked sites)
in short, for me it's a no on ccm in its current state
I ask that someone else tests it, so as not to rely solely on my very unfavorable opinion
I add that the test was done on a 32-bit Seven as admin, and the actions taken are accessible to our dear blonde heads whom we shouldn’t underestimate when it comes to computers

Thank you for your time dedicated to this software. Your tests are relevant. I suggest we suspend them.
Here are my comments on the remarks:
- The Firefox bug exists and it has been fixed (the demo version has not been republished yet).
- The security of the process and the password needs to be strengthened. You are right.
- Using Admin is not necessarily the operational mode that a child would use, but it may be common? In my case, one of my children was in this situation and he would create new Windows accounts at will. In this case, it becomes difficult to control anything...
So, no problem with your refusal, in the current state, and I hope to be able to resubmit it to you at the beginning of 2012.

The security of the parental control software NetAddictFree has been strengthened: encrypted password and numerous information in the registry, including the launching of the agent (which has been renamed and is now harder to identify)
the usability of the calendar input is now smooth...
Could you take some time to evaluate it again and decide if it deserves to be listed on CCM?
