Connection after a power outage?

Hello,

I had a power outage of about 1 second. My computer turned off and then turned back on immediately (while I was online). Since then, I can't connect. However, another computer in the house that is connected via Wi-Fi has no problem connecting (as well as the game console, my son's DS, etc.)
I am connected via Ethernet cable (I changed the cable).
Can someone please help me?
Thank you
Ema

Good evening and thank you for trying to help me

Yes, I have a "neufbox". Since I thought it was coming from the "box", I contacted "sfr", my provider, to ask for help. After spending 1 hour on the phone with them, they told me they were sending me a new box. So now, my box is brand new.

So you're having trouble connecting over Wi-Fi?

No, that's precisely what's strange. My husband's computer is connected to Wi-Fi and has no problem connecting; our gaming console (Wii) and the Nintendo DS also connect without issue. When I received the new "Neufbox," I reconfigured everything that was working on Wi-Fi (changing the "network key"), and it was working fine; even my computer connected very well. Then there was a power outage, and now my computer can't connect anymore.
At the bottom right of my screen (I believe that's called the taskbar), there's an icon for the connection (two little computers), and there's a yellow triangle on the icon. When I double-click on it, it says "limited or no connectivity." Then I click on "repair." And the computer says: "renewing the IP address." Finally, the computer states, "Windows could not fix the problem because renewing the IP address did not complete. Please contact your network administrator."
There you go; I hope my "gibberish" isn't too complicated and that I managed to explain my issue well.
    Thank you,
    Ema

    Hello,
I think you will need to check the configuration of your network card (right-click on network connection > properties > Tcp/ip and set everything to "auto")
Try it out, and if it doesn't work, manually set an IP address like 192.168.0.5, etc.
For more detailed instructions on how to do this, search online, particularly on your internet service provider's site, SFR, for you.

    Good luck!

Thank you, I'll give it a try. I hope I won't "screw" everything up; I don't dare to modify those things too much because I'm afraid that afterward no one will be able to connect even via Wi-Fi. Because then, I would really be stuck if I can't connect here!

No risk for other users if you modify the settings on your computer, not on the internet box.

Ok, thanks, I'll try again then... because so far I haven't managed to do it yet!

    Hello.

    - We know that this is not coming from the Box.
    - ctxlp2002 explained everything clearly.
    - Is your network card enabled? Check by: right-clicking on My Computer, Properties, Hardware, Device Manager, open Network Adapters. Is there a small red cross on your network card or not?
    - If I understood correctly, you are using an Ethernet cable; you can also try using a USB cable if possible.

So, I went to check the device manager, and there are two "things" for the network card, noted as follows:

      fast ethernet PCI network card
      .....realtek RTL8139 family
......VIA rhine II fast ethernet adapter

I think it's because my computer has a network card and the box must be the second "thing" (sorry, I'm not very good with this stuff!)
When I received the new box, there was an installation CD included, so I tried to use it to set up the connection. All the lights on my box are normally lit, everything is properly connected and yet, the computer says "unable to connect to the modem"
Wow! I don't understand anything! lol!
I'm going to try with a USB cable
      thank you

    Good evening,

    can you do the following:

start> run> type "cmd" in the run window
    this opens the command prompt.
in this command prompt, type "ipconfig /all"
and then paste here all the content of the result

    that's all for now :)

      Hi,

It seems that your network card has a problem; it detects the Ethernet cable but cannot reach the router (the DHCP has not passed).

On the other hand, we see a second network card; do you not have a second port on your computer?
If you have another one, you should try connecting to it to see if it does the same thing.

After some research, it seems that this network card is very sensitive to the signal it receives (works with certain switches, not with others, some boxes, etc...)

So prioritize using the other network card if available.

Or consider updating its drivers if necessary.

    Hello,

I don't understand anything anymore, it's working again...?!!!!
I just opened the computer, dusted it inside, added some sort of card that has nothing to do with the internet (it's something to have more USB ports)
I plugged everything back in, and now it works.
But there’s still something wrong (of course, there always has to be some hassle! lol!)
I can't access certain sites (e.g.: my bank account, the site where I can check my children's grades...) it says:
"the site's security certificate is not yet valid" all this written in white on a red background ....?
    What can I do?
Well, in any case, I hope there won't be any more power cuts!

    Thanks
    Ema

For the certificates, I think you should have a link on the page to accept the addition of a certificate.
If you don't have one, you might have a small icon on the left side of http://www in your address bar, try clicking on it when you receive the certificate request.
If these suggestions don't work, you could try another browser.

It's Explorer, because in Explorer / you go to / Tools / Internet Options / Content / Certificates / and you click on the certificates to check / see if they are valid / if they are not, delete them.
