USB drive I/O device error

Hello

I have a big problem, it’s catastrophic. I have an mp3 player with an SD card. It has a 1 GB card in it, and therefore a good amount of data. Everything was working perfectly until at work they did an update of I don’t know what, and I forgot to unplug my player. Since then, there’s this error message when I click on it both at work and at home:

G:\ is not accessible
Cannot perform the requested operation due to an I/O device error

Yet my USB stick is recognized...

I absolutely need to recover the data. What should I do to make my mp3 player/SD card readable again, if possible :(((

Thank you in advance for your help.

Go to Device Manager and disable the extended host controller, and normally everything should fall into place.
Because I had the same issue.
I hope this helps you.

Thank you! Now it is recognized by the Windows explorer, but when I try to format it with Windows, it says that the disk is write-protected. If anyone knows what to do.

Go to Device Manager and look for the hardware you want to format
1) if it's enabled = disable the device and then re-enable it
