Hello,
I want to improve my PC's performance because I want to play BF3 normally.
I currently have a P5Q motherboard
an x86 Family 6 Model 23 Stepping 10 GenuineIntel processor ~2500 MHz
4GB of RAM
Windows XP and 7 in dual boot
and I am going to receive an EVGA GTX560 graphics card
and on my power supply, I read in red "max 500w"
Having a tight budget (around 100 euros or less of course), I am asking for advice on changing my processor to boost my PC.
Thank you in advance
Configuration: Windows XP / Internet Explorer 8.0

Hello again,
Do you think I need to change the motherboard or would a new CPU be sufficient?
Thank you in advance, any advice would help me a lot. -
you have a very small proc lol for the GPU
a Core2Quad would be nice but they are hard to find now
otherwise get an upgrade kit from materiel.net with an i5 in it, you’ll be safe
PS: I also rarely get replies lol -
Thank you very much, Sourinor,
I have another little question, on my power supply it says 230V and max 530W.
What does this mean, will I need to change the power supply and which value should I take into account (230V or 530W)?
And are there any motherboards compatible with DDR2 and DDR3 because I don't want to lose everything, as this PC is a year old.
Thanks again. -
I want to talk about DDR2 and DDR3 compatibility of course.
Thank you. -
There are such cards at Asrock, I believe.
It's the watts that you need to take into account (unless you're not in France, 230V is fine ^^) -
the best on 775

but a slight overclock will be necessary to be comfortable in games -
in 1155

270 euros less than the Q9650 but certainly more powerful -
Thank you very much again, I’ll take a look at it right away.
-
I looked, and it's true that I can't do budgets over 200 euros.
Do you think the processor:
Intel - Processor - Core 2 Quad Q8300 (2.5GHz) BOX - 4 MB cache - Socket 775 - FSB 1333MHz - Boxed Version *F*
will allow me to boost my PC and enable me to play BF3 with:
- 4GB of RAM
- Windows XP and 7 in dual boot
- and I'm going to receive an EVGA GTX560 graphics card
- and on my power supply, I read in red "max 500w"
and a P5Q motherboard
Will there be a real difference compared to the current processor: Intel Pentium III Xeon, 2500 MHz (9.5 x 263)
Finally, are there any i5 processors in socket 775 because I haven't seen any.
Thank you. -
-
the i5s are 1155 that’s all (or 1156 for the bugger lol)
if you clock the quad core to 3Ghz (should hold without tweaking the voltage too much)
I think you’ll run bf3 but not at high quality -
Ok, thank you very much again, I think I need to save some money then.
-
I would advise you to get a Core 2 Duo or a Core 2 Quad
that will be more than enough.
But if you have a large budget, go for a Core i7 or a Core i5 (the most reliable on the market)
Sincerely
