Hello,
here is my problem: I just bought an ASUS P5Q DELUXE motherboard to replace a GIGABIT GA-P35-DS4 that is presumably dead. My original setup: 1 SATA with OS + 2 SATA HDDs in RAID 0 (added later and used as boot drives with OS), 1 GeForce 8800 GTS 640MB graphics card, 8 GB of memory.
On first boot everything was OK: CMOS date and time error, so BIOS adjustment (I notice that my 2 HDDs are not recognized). Restart and nothing!! no display. Power off the PC, restart shows a default BIOS option (F2). The OS on my first HDD starts without issue. Installed motherboard drivers, updated OS (VISTA). Restart and nothing!! no display i.e. the screen is black and keyboard and mouse are not accessible. After several attempts of the same kind I cleared the BIOS CLR. Restart + F2 (default BIOS): no problem, my PC started again (I left it running for several hours while monitoring temperatures around 38 C). After restart nothing. Same CLR BIOS and it starts again.
Help me: the new motherboard has a problem, I forgot to connect a cable, why aren’t my 2 HDDs recognized in the BIOS (to create my RAID array I assume, right!).
Help me please before I crack!!

hello
are you using VISTA 32 OR VISTA 64?
why 8 GB of memory???
if I were you, I would boot the PC with the strict minimum: 1 memory stick, a single hard drive—the one containing the OS (which I would reinstall instead of just updating drivers)
see if it starts correctly already, then add components gradually to see which element disrupts things
by the way what processor do you have?
the motherboard values, are they default (FSB; voltage, etc..)?
because a no-beep, no-display boot is a symptom of an overclock failure on ASUS boards, which indeed doesn’t get resolved by a clear CMOS, but apparently you must have another issue... to see thus -
Hello,
Thank you for taking an interest in my case.
I have a Dual Core 2 Duo 2666 MHz E6750
My motherboard is new, so all motherboard settings should be on auto.
Additionally, I had to reactivate VISTA by phone: Normal apparently when the motherboard is changed.
The updates I performed are the drivers provided with the motherboard CD. (possible that when I reboot after a CLR CMOS)
The problem is to view my SETUP without doing a CLR because otherwise I get a black screen with no possible action.
Of course I changed the motherboard battery but nothing more.
Does the new motherboard have a problem?
Please help me before I lose it!! -
already tried without the two disks that are not recognized, you remove the power cable on the disks

Hello,
with a lot of delay (holidays+dead PC) the issue is resolved.
1) 1 of the memory sticks is dead
2) the braid is dead
Bad luck and replacing the motherboard wasn’t necessarily required (I will check).
thanks for your help
