C 31:42 on Sony DCR-TRV320 camcorder

Hello everyone,
I have a problem with my camcorder.
When inserting a Hi8 tape into the aforementioned camcorder, I received the following error message => C31:42.
I followed the troubleshooting procedure outlined in the user manual, which states "remove the cassette, turn off the power, and try again" and I'm still getting this message.

    Have you received any information regarding your issue? Because I have the same thing with my Sony HC42E.

    I have a problem with my Sony DCR-TRV16E camcorder; I can't read or record a tape anymore. The error message is: c31.23, and the little arrow tells me to eject the tape. However, when I want to turn on the camcorder, there is no error message at all.
