Hello,
My camcorder fell yesterday on the tiled floor from a height of about 60 cm.
Error C31:23 on startup with alarm beep. Unable to play or record the DV tape in the player.
Changed to a new tape. The problem seems to be resolved. Playback and recording are fine on this tape.
I put the previous tape back in. OK. I can view the entirety of the already recorded tape, but when I try to continue recording new videos on this tape, the error C:31:23 appears again immediately at the start of the recording.
Since then, I can't restart it at all, neither with the new tape nor this one. Disconnecting and reconnecting the battery does nothing.

Thank you for your research
It seems to me that there is a problem with the playback heads and an inability to rewind the tape.
I must have lost a mechanical physical element of this function, but it's not easy to access the playback heads.
I will still try cleaning tapes and continue to "bang hard" on the side of the camcorder. Quite original, but you never know.
