DVD player blown fuse

Hello,

I recently had a lightning strike that damaged a Pioneer DVD player (DV 656 A) for home use. Upon examining the machine, I noticed that the T2A 250v fuse blew and I replaced it. The problem is that when I plug in the power supply, it blows again, which would indicate that there is a short circuit issue at the power supply level. What should I do to possibly repair this player?

Thank you

Phil

Hello,

If you're not a specialist and have no skills in electronics, I doubt you'll manage...

The lightning can have damaged everything and anything inside, not just the power supply. The fact that your fuse keeps blowing doesn't mean it's the power supply that is faulty. You need to test each part independently of the others.

I would advise you to take a closer look at your home insurance policy and your rights to compensation in case of damage caused by lightning. You may need to file a claim, and you could be reimbursed at least part of the purchase price of your device. It depends on the policy you subscribed to.

After that, I can only recommend using a surge protector to avoid further issues of the same kind, or choosing an appropriate insurance policy if you live in an area frequently hit by lightning.
