How to play region 1 DVDs?

After doing some research, I found VLC 0.8.6i available for download here:

I uninstalled my crappy version 1.0.1, cleaned the registry, deleted the VideoLAN folder,
restarted the beast, and reinstalled this famous version 0.8.6i... and ....

TA-DAAAAAA! It works! Now I can access region 1.

Anyway, I’m not ready to update VLC!!!

to read Zone 1 DVDs, you need:

- on a standalone player, it must be region free. When you buy a player, ask the seller for the region unlock code; if he refuses to give it to you on the grounds that it's illegal, threaten to go elsewhere, it usually works, he will give it to you, otherwise go to another store. (At Fnac, they give it out).
You can also find small retailers who will unlock your player.
- on PC, download the ANYDVD software, it is paid after a trial period, but once purchased, with regular updates, nothing can stop it, or almost nothing, you can read all DVDs on your PC without any limit on zone changes and nearly copy everything.

It allows you to read DVDs regardless of their regions and protection. You may even be able to copy it (backup copy for your personal use) by changing the region. It will then be playable on your home player.

It's very simple:

-Go to My Computer

-Right-click on the disc drive

-Click on the Hardware tab (at the top)

-There will be a list of hardware (hard drive, disc drive...)

-Click on the desired disc drive

-Click on Properties (at the bottom)

-On the DVD Region tab (at the top)

-Select a country region 1 (e.g.: United States)

-Confirm

Note: Before, empty your disc drive
To change it back to region 1, do the same thing except replace United States with your country

J'ai un lecteur Silvercrest KH6507 et je voudrais le dezoner.

J'ai trouvé une méthode sur un site (aller dans le setup, taper le code 1379 et mettre la zone à 0 avec les touches Haut et Bas), mais ça ne fonctionne pas.
J'accède bien au menu et tout, mais je ne peux pas changer la zone (ni avec les flèches Haut, Bas, Gauche, Droite ni avec les touches numériques).

Quelqu'un peut-il m'aider s'il vous plaît ?

My reader has been updated with the firmware, I don't know if that changes anything or not.
I just did the operation.
I pressed Set Up --> General Displays --> Region Code --> right directional button, you choose 0 and press OK.
If that's what you do, then I don't know.
