Hello everyone and thank you in advance for your valuable help.
I have a big problem, my PC is stuck on detecting IDE drives at startup and can't go any further, not even into the setup.
I cleared the CMOS, nothing, tested the cables and power supply connections, still nothing.
So it keeps rebooting in a loop :-s.
I have a WD400 hard drive and an AD77 motherboard, and it had been working fine for 5 years.
When I connected it to another PC as a slave, there was no problem, I could read the data without any issue, but as a master, well, I can't remember if I tried, and if I did, it didn't yield much.
No hardware changes or anything else since then.
If someone has a quick idea because I have work to finish by the end of the week.
Thanks again.

Hello.
Apparently your PC does not detect any of your drives.
Several possible causes:
- One of your IDE cables is defective.
- The jumpers on your drives are misconfigured.
Unplug all your drives and only reconnect your hard drive, checking the jumper position and trying all the connectors.
If that works, reconnect the other drives one by one, testing each time.
What is even more surprising is that you can no longer access the setup.
I hope for you that your motherboard hasn’t given up the ghost!!!!!

To succeed, you need: a bit of method, a little more method, and especially a lot of method. -
Hello
Personally, I had a burnt motherboard not too long ago. If that's the case, your PC shouldn't start. A burnt motherboard causes a complete system shutdown, with no possibility of turning it back on. If you try anyway, you’ll see the little lights turn on for 1/4 second and then nothing. In your case, since you’re at least getting to the BIOS, it means your motherboard is safe ;-)
However, I have the same problem as you with Detecting IDE drives, following the installation of a burner. I’ve checked the cables thoroughly, but nothing works. So, I removed the burner and its cables, and since then, things have been going much better. But without a burner :-( -

Well, the good news is that the hard drive is not dead....
However, the power supply has burned out, and something else, but what????
Either the motherboard or the processor :-s
Could someone tell me how to find out?
Thank you -
Often when the power supply fails, the motherboard does too, and vice versa.
No tests are possible to my knowledge, except to obtain another processor and try it out.
Sometimes you can notice if capacitors on the motherboard have burned out.

Hello!
I had exactly the same thing, I removed the power supply from the DVD burner and everything works again (:
