Print a mini book A8 on A4 paper.

Solved

Hello,

I would like to print a mini book (basic in Word, standard format) in A8 size on A4 (16 pages per sheet) but double-sided, so that I can bind it afterwards.

I understand that I can have 16 pages per sheet, but they do not arrange themselves in a way that allows for double-sided printing (either they are in normal order, or if I do odd/even, they do not end up on the back of their respective pages when I flip the sheet over).

I don’t see how to do this; if anyone has the solution...

Configuration: Windows XP / Safari 535.1

To print a miniature booklet (single-sided or double-sided) from an A4 document, you need to have a printer that has the booklet option (most photocopiers have this option).

It seems to me that my printer has this option, I even tried it but it doesn't give me what I want:
it shows all the pages from 1 to 16 on one side and the last pages of my book (180 pages) on the other.

This seems normal to me if you selected 16 pages per sheet in Word.
When it comes to the printer, you need to not only select booklet but also the number of pages per sheet (or the booklet size).

If your printer allows the imposition of 8 pages per side, you need to provide the sequence of pages to be printed per side... For example: 1,16,2,14, etc... It is necessary to verify the logic of the imposition when the pages are sent normally and to define the order for the creation of the booklets...

Word has a limitation for the print sequence, but in any case, it is always preferable to do this kind of thing in batches to avoid crashes and having to redo the work... especially for 180 pages!

Good evening,
after checking, I think I confused the "brochure" mode with the booklet mode.
My printer doesn't have the booklet option...

It's a Canon MP160.

I tested on about thirty pages using Adobe, I can print 20 pages per sheet and by doing front side odd pages and back side even pages in reverse horizontal order I manage to get all my mini pages with their respective back sides. I will just need to bind them by gluing.
I think that's the only solution for my printer....

A response that suits me is not what I would say, but the most convincing solution considering my printer.

Thank you for your help anyway.
I will mark it as resolved.
