Hello everyone,
I have been experiencing a problem since last night that I cannot seem to resolve.
When I start my computer, the screen stays black and shows a "monitor status" window containing the following information (then the screen goes to sleep):
DVI: no signal (not normal)
VGA: no signal (normal in my case)
Automatic source: YES
Default source: DVI
Recommended setting: 1920x1080-60Hz
Note: My graphics card is connected via HDMI to my monitor using DVI.
Here is my configuration:
HP 2310i monitor
HP Pavilion Elite HPE-110fr
Intel Core i5-650 processor
Processor frequency 3.2 GHz
Installed RAM 6 GB
Type of installed RAM DDR3
NVIDIA GeForce GT 230 graphics card
I have tried several things so far:
- I replaced the DVI/HDMI cable with a VGA/VGA between the monitor and the GPU --> same problem
- I connected the monitor to my laptop via an HDMI cable --> the monitor works
- I connected my tower to my plasma TV via HDMI --> no image on the TV either
The problem seems to be with the graphics card, but what can I do? I can't even see my computer booting with this black screen!
This is a PC I bought from Fnac over a year ago and until now, I was quite satisfied with it as there were no problems, but now...
Thank you in advance for your advice.

Hello
According to the diagnosis you just made, it would indeed be a problem with your graphics card.
- Start by checking if there is an integrated graphics card on the motherboard to test with and confirm whether the issue really comes from the added graphics card or the motherboard.
- In both cases: whether there is an integrated graphics card or not, and regardless of the result of the test, you need to remove the NVIDIA GeForce GT 230 graphics card, clean the contacts with a bit of alcohol, and also ensure that there is no dust stuck in the PCI port.
