Adjusting the built-in microphone on the PC Solved/Closed

Question

Hello everyone,
Thank you in advance to anyone who can give me an answer.
I had to mute the sound one day to work in silence.
And now I want to turn it back on and I can't. I can hear people through Skype or Messenger, but nobody can hear me.
I have a Dell Inspiron 6400 laptop with an Intel Core Duo inside
and I have the message that the microphone is not connected.
How can I get the exact settings to get my microphone working again
or to connect the built-in microphone to the PC?

It is very possible that the microphone is disabled, so to reactivate it under Vista:
right-click on the volume icon next to the clock -> recording devices -> recording tab -> right-click in the device window -> check "show disabled devices" -> normally the microphone that was disabled will reappear, right-click on it (yes, it's all about right-clicking :o) and ENABLE.

okay, the problem might be that your microphone is disabled.

To reactivate it, just go to:
Start> All Programs > Accessories > Entertainment > Volume Control.

Now check if the microphone is enabled, and if so, if it is loud enough.

If it still doesn't work, go to options > properties and check under playback and recording if the mic is properly engaged.

Même problème, impossible de faire marcher mon micro sur mon PC HP 6000. La webcam marche, pas de son. J’entends par contre les autres parler mais ils ne m’entendent pas. Pourtant, le test me dit que tout fonctionne correctement. Merci pour la réponse.

Hello,  Attention: the input MICRO does not mean built-in microphone.  SOLUTION: 1- Buy a microphone 2- Connect the microphone That should be all you need to do!  For your information, here's how to do it: I have the same PC as you (Inspiron 6400) and to my knowledge, there is no built-in microphone. However, there is an audio input = socket on the right side next to the USB ports. So it is normal that you see the message "the microphone is not connected." If you can hear people on MSN, it means your speakers are active = audio output from your PC. For them to hear you in the same way, first check that your audio input is active:  Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Manage Audio Devices > Sound (or something like that sorry I have the English version of the PC: Control panel > Hardware & sound > Manage audio devices > Sound) In this sound window, click on the "Recording" tab. You should see a microphone with the comment "works correctly."  Now 3 things to do: 1- Buy a microphone!! 2- Connect the microphone: your PC should detect it. In the window that opened, click on "Microphone" + OK.  Note: If you skip step 3 it should still work, it's just to adjust the sound: (3- Configure the microphone: by going back to the same sound window, "Recording" tab. Click on "Microphone," then "Configure." In the "Speech Recognition Options" window, click on "Set up microphone." Choose "Other" if you don't have a microphone with a headset / handheld microphone. Click next until the step "Adjust the microphone volume." Read the phrase, then click "Next." The microphone should be set up now.) Yes, I also have this problem.
I can't reactivate my built-in microphones on my HP Pavilion dv6000.
I checked in start > all programs > accessories
but I don't have entertainment after that.

I had the same problem on Vista, the built-in microphone was working very well before I formatted my computer and since then I haven't been able to reactivate it....... I spent about two hours looking in the accessory panel, checking all the sections to see if I had missed anything, and finally, I went to my neighbor's house, he just went to the manufacturer's website of my computer (in this case Dell) and downloaded the sound card update, and now it works perfectly^^. I had actually gone to "alldrivers.com" which told me that my computer was up to date, go figure.....

actually my computer is a TOSHIBA PORTEGE M100, it is brand new and I have Vista. At first, when I talked to my friends on Skype I didn't use a headset, the built-in microphone worked perfectly after a long time, (I even forgot what I did) the built-in microphone no longer works.
I don't really like using a headset, is it possible to restore the activation of my internal microphone?

I also have this problem; I think it comes from Windows 7 because I went from Vista to Windows 7, and before my built-in microphone worked, now it doesn't, and I used to make calls often thanks to it, so I'm quite annoyed. Could you help me??  Thank you :)
