Hello, so the question is simple: which one to choose this year between PES 2012 and FIFA 12?
I buy PES every year since PES 4, but this year I'm hesitating more than usual. It's always said that FIFA is better than PES, but the latter is still very good...
I'm wondering about this because I want to have the choice of a large selection of leagues, as I feel there aren't enough licenses in PES (5 leagues, even if it seems that the Portuguese league will be present this year, and the Bundesliga isn't even included...).
So, I'm curious about the game modes available in FIFA 12? Are there modes similar to Master League or Become a Legend?
Please advise me, and I don't want a response like "get FIFA because PES is crap." Show me why one is better than the other.
Thank you :)

Honestly, on Xbox 360, the techniques in P.E.S are harder to execute compared to FIFA.
Red-iX
I prefer PES 2012, it is 100 times better than FIFA.
The pre-order is done and the lucky winner is... FIFA 12!
Thank you for your "advice," the downloadable demo on PS3 convinced me greatly.

Yes, I suppose the demo plays a big role because people's explanations of the game modes are somewhat simplistic.
Indeed, there is a mode called "Become a Legend" which is named "Become Pro" and "Become Pro Keeper" or something like that. (You control a player, you make him evolve by achieving feats, you make him a starter, captain, etc., etc...)
And the "Master League" mode is simply called "Career" in FIFA and is just as good, if not better than PES (in my opinion).
Personally, I switched from PES to FIFA in 2009...
I think you won't be disappointed with your pre-order.
Enjoy the matches!

Honestly, I tried both demos. Personally, I preferred FIFA 12 with the Champions League kits already included and more stadiums like the Vélodrome, Gerland... Choose FIFA 12. I'm still a fan of PES, and this year I'm discovering a great game, and in 2/3 weeks I’m going to buy it at Auchan, because at Micromania or other official game stores, it's at €69.99, while at Auchan I can get it for €52.90. Enjoy the game, have a great time =D
For me, it's FIFA without a doubt, I have the demos of both games, and FIFA is far superior to PES in every aspect. The player faces are poorly done in PES, while in FIFA they are very realistic.
In terms of gameplay, FIFA wins hands down; in PES, players make passes in unlikely situations, it's no longer even a simulation game. PES is becoming more and more of an arcade game, while FIFA is increasingly a simulation game.
FIFA also offers more content, such as Season Live, Ultimate Team, many foreign leagues, etc.
PES has been disappointing for several years now. I don't even understand why people continue to buy it; you must be blind to deny that FIFA has been better for a few years now.

In FIFA 12, is there a mode similar to Master League in PES 2012? That is to say, can you choose a team to play season after season, being able to buy players, sign young players from the reserve team...?
In PES 2012, there is a Become a Legend mode that involves creating your player and only playing with him, developing him, and signing with other clubs... does FIFA 12 have this kind of mode?

Just like that, PES is for the real players, confirmed. I have three or four matches in FIFA and I managed to beat my friend, but to really play PES, you need more than four matches. Those who choose FIFA do so for its simplicity; everyone says it's bad because it's hard, but I'm sorry, in a real football match, you don't often see scores like 6-0. Furthermore, FIFA just copies PES to improve; the proof is that they have taken the passing system from the old PES games.
A good game isn't necessarily a simple game; it's once you master it that the game shows its true face.

PES WITHOUT CALL ***FIFA TOO ARCADE, I have both, FIFA in online mode has goals in bunches like in handball. End of the match 15 to 14, PES is much more of a simulation, at least there is suspense! PES REMAINS THE BOSS, apart from the stadiums, and FIFA's sponsorship is complete! 4.5 players look very similar in FIFA, like Messi or Ronaldo, but way too many bear no resemblance at all, luckily there are the names! PES is more consistent in that regard!
I've always been a big fan of PES personally, but this year FIFA is excellent, unfortunately, in a way :D In fact, now in FIFA, if you're a fan of Real for example, you choose it at the start of the game, and every match you play with the chosen team earns points for the team in the game :) Personally, I have PES 12 and the master league has been partly revamped, and it's more complicated but much, much more attractive! It's like reality, honestly :) Unfortunately, some changes haven’t been made, like Aguero at City or Dufour at Porto... But I'm still a fan :) And you shouldn't rely on the demos, it changes a lot compared to the full game ;)
Everyone keeps telling me to buy FIFA 12, but what disappoints me about FIFA 12 is that you can't do a World Cup or Champions League, etc., etc...
Whereas in PES, you can.
What do you think?
Whereas in PES, you can.
What do you think?
Normally, it's incorporated into the career menu... It's more exciting to go earn the Champions League after a great season than just having it in the direct menu! Otherwise, the competition mode includes several variants of competitions (national or created), so you can also find your happiness by creating your own competition with the best teams in Europe according to you...
At the risk of shocking some, I would say PES2012 but with the PESEdit patches that go with it; without the patches, it's FIFA.
FIFA has a big problem; to recover a ball in defense, you have to let the AI do it (or not press the wrong button; I once managed to trigger a penalty from 5-6 meters away from the player :-/), and getting past the opposing defense is also buggy (see dedicated forums in the FIFA community).
For PES, the image blur, transfers, kits, stadiums, new leagues, etc. have been corrected and added with the PES Edit patch, which is updated very regularly.
So for me, on PC, it's 100% PES since the patch.
Moreover, in 1v1 with a buddy, there are more actions and rhythm in PES than in FIFA.
For the "Become a Legend" mode in PES and "Be a Pro" in FIFA, there's no contest; PES offers the challenge of making a name for yourself in a club at 17 years old, while in FIFA, I spent 5 weeks, played 2 matches, I was injured for 3 weeks, and my player went from 69 to 71... it's far too easy. (even for me, who rarely plays FIFA). Oh, and I should add that for both games, I play at the highest level.

Guys, open your eyes, there are no comparisons to be made, PES 2012 is far better than FIFA 12. When it comes to gameplay, there's no contest, I own both games so I've compared them, damn FIFA 12 is just awful, it's either for kids or for old people. Forget it, the navigation windows are crap. To appreciate PES at its true value, you shouldn't do just anything, you need to master the gameplay and only then can you make a so-called comparison.
PES is a good football game, but not a good simulation game. If you want pure simulation, there's no contest, FIFA beats PES. If you want an arcade game, then it’s PES, because, let’s admit it, the graphics of PES are cartoonish, and the players look pretty shabby. In PES, scoring is very easy, you just spam the X button, the players make improbable one-touch passes, and then all that's left to do is shoot.
FIFA is much more content-rich than PES, there are more leagues, Ultimate Team and Seasons Live. And FIFA's new graphics engine works wonders; the contact management is impressive. Moreover, all reviews confirm that FIFA is by far the best sports game. It’s a huge hit, in fact, in the UK, it has the third best launch of all time, behind the last two Call of Duty games. And last year, FIFA 11 sold over 100 million copies across all platforms, and it’s not for nothing.

I agree with you on everything, except that honestly if you can just press X and score in PES2012 on pro level, you’re really lucky.
Personally, I've played all the PES since the beginning and the AI in PES2012, although very dumb at times, is rather smart in its defense and defensive regrouping; I've played a lot of matches on it and you don't score as easily as in PES2011, for example.

It's not worth that price at all, at least on PC, where I find it better:

Not even €30... and I don't see how it's logical to say that PES is for Sunday players..., it has no connection at all.
Now if you want to talk about FIFA's simulation since you find it much more realistic, I played a "become a pro: Goalkeeper," I was with Dijon and in the first friendly match against Barça, we drew 2-2 while dominating. Do you find that more realistic?
And overall in FIFA, all teams play in a Barcelona style with a multitude of passes to create a chance, which in reality is not really the case...
Then you say 'if you set it to the hardest level', does that mean you judge a game on normal or easy level? Well, it's for sure that the AI is not hard to beat by doing X all the time and even lets you pass, but it's the same in FIFA, so judge the game by playing on the hardest level and come back to give us a coherent opinion.

Instead of criticizing, why don't you make constructive comments
about what you like in FIFA and what you don't like in PES, knowing that in terms of graphics quality and licensing, FIFA comes out on top
for the rest, test the tactics, the feints, the gameplay, etc.
but no comments like "it's crap," everyone deserves to have good feedback, and if you've really been good players for years, constructive comments shouldn't be a problem for you.

Just take the time to read the comment I left up there, you'll see it's constructive regarding my opinion, right?
Plus, even if I don't take it personally, I listed the pros of FIFA and those of PES.
After that, I understand you when you read "well, it's your buddy who sucks..." it feels like we're in recess, but don't put me in the same bag.

Blablabla,
Sorry, I haven't seen any real arguments from you. It's probably because you're talking about AI behavior without playing at a pro level. Everything you've contributed so far are just "tests say that..." or "my friends have FIFA" (so FIFA is great...), in the end, nothing really interesting to read or respond to.
Otherwise, always reread my previous comment, it's communication and advertising that sell well, and the advertising before the game's release was very well done.
P.S.: Don't force yourself to change your language, just keep it at the level of your arguments.

Go back to primary school, read the very first comment I posted.
I'm relying on my impressions, on the sales figures and on the tests; the tests aren’t just for show. Sorry, but if nearly all your friends are only playing FIFA, that's still a sign... This week we tried PES, and we had a blast, not because the game is good, but because it’s such crap, to be honest, there’s no comparison, especially in terms of gameplay. PES is everything you want, but not a football game, no Bundesliga for example, no system akin to FIFA like the Arena, so what a bore during the match loading times, and don’t even get me started on the online game, a weak community... I'll stop there.
No, no, no, I’m sorry, it’s not a bit of advertising that sells FIFA millions and millions more copies than PES, it’s simply because FIFA is a real football game, and not an arcade game; even FIFA Street is more realistic than PES...
LOL, you can talk, you who think a patch completely changes the face of a game, as if PES + the patch is some PES 2012 redux. Most pro-PES fans admit that FIFA is better, even if they buy PES every year, but I only see you thinking that PES is better LOL, just look around you, the reviews, the sales, the content of both games, etc., you have to be stubborn to deny that. FIFA is currently the best launch of 2011 with millions and millions of sales.

Hello everyone, I made a video to compare FIFA 12 and PES 12, to see their flaws and strengths, come check out my video:

I have a question.
I have been used to PES for several years. I bought PES 11 on my PS3 last year.
In terms of licenses, I admit that with patches like CYPES that update transfers, kits, stadiums, faces, League 2, etc., PES is on par with FIFA, except of course if you want to play in the Czech or Polish leagues.
I am a fan of Master League and Become a Legend.
These game modes are super addictive, even though I feel like some matches are scripted in the first mode mentioned.
But scripted matches, from what I've read on FIFA forums, are a big issue in EA's game.
This year I am hesitating, but I want to clarify that I am not a hardcore gamer; I like to play a series of 2 or 3 matches from time to time.
Given that I am used to the PES gameplay (which works for me despite its flaws), I am afraid it will take me too long to get used to FIFA's, especially its defense mode, which seems very complicated to master. I played about ten matches on the demo, and I didn't have much fun.
I am a football fan; the idea of being able to play a realistic simulation appeals to me, but since I am used to PES gameplay and FIFA's seems very complex, I don't want to struggle for weeks before I can score a goal and enjoy playing.
In short, with my PES experience, my affection for the game, and the pleasure I get from it, is it worth it for me to switch to FIFA?
Am I going to have fun, basically?

Hello,
As you probably read, I've been pro-PES for years, but that doesn't stop me from currently playing both games.
I've really started playing FIFA this year, and it's certain that if you're used to PES, you'll initially struggle to get into FIFA's gameplay, where you have to find the right opening, and the way to defend is crucial and hard to adapt to. But if you know how to place your buttons well, you can manage the different ways to defend.
I'm lucky to have a friend who plays FIFA quite well and has given me quite a few tips to help me enjoy it, but initially, it’s going to be tough, especially if you only play a few matches from time to time.
Regarding your gaming time, I would recommend PES; it's quick to pick up, and in terms of dribbling (especially step-overs), you'll find the joy of PES6. However, if you play more and take the time to learn FIFA's subtleties, you can take the leap and get it.
In the end, if you can, test it out first (even on PC) and form your own opinion.
That’s it, I hope this helps you. Personally, I'm starting to enjoy playing FIFA just as much as PES, so whichever choice you make will be good.

+1 to you tonicci for the good sense you show and also because you represent exactly my case. I have always been PES and even ISS (but only some will understand), and after decades I had reached a level that allowed me not to be ridiculous in PES League tournaments. And all my friends, like all football game fans, we only cared about PES... FIFA was nothing...
Today I'm not stupid, and it's certainly not by reading the comments of some kevin on this topic, but by reading articles from expert people that it’s clear FIFA has surpassed PES for the past 3 / 4 years.... Yes, except that I'm no longer a "gamer", I have kids (finally a life) and I can’t spend as much time on a football game as I did when I was a Tanguy... but I admit 2 or 3 times a year we have a little console night among the old folks. And there was no contest, I have a PS3 and at home, I have FIFA11 and PES2009, let's just say that on paper PES had no chance... and yet.... We started FIFA, wow it was beautiful, it moved well.... except that the habits weren’t there and we ended the night with PES2009... and we just had a blast!!!
All this to say that whether it’s good or not, what matters is the enjoyment you get from it and that we don’t change habits like that... And every year we have our little tear when we see our "Castello", "Baroja" and the like...
Well, just to add, I will have the opportunity to play a bit more in the coming weeks and so I will buy the first FIFA of my life... Hoping not to return once again to PES... ^^

Arf, it feels good to get written responses in correct French.
I haven't decided yet.
But I've learned that the Pro Clubs mode in FIFA is terrible, which is one of the reasons I play a football game.
If you could come back and share your feelings about FIFA in a few weeks, that would be great.
Also, if there are other people who have switched from PES to FIFA this year, I'd like to hear their opinions as well.
Thanks.

Hello Tonicci,
I switched from PES to FIFA since the 9th but still play PES from time to time. Like you and Moh, I started with ISS (I played quite a bit from the first FIFA to FIFA 98 before I got really into PES). And like many players who moved from PES to FIFA, I still keep my PES controls ;)
It’s true that you might struggle a bit at first, but if you’re a football fan, you’ll have more fun on FIFA because you’ll have the chance to play a real team game. Defending will be complicated, but since you are not a FIFA player, you will have to learn anyway, and I don’t agree with most gamers who find FIFA 12 complicated; this new gameplay is intuitive! Once you start playing passes with a strong team, you can enjoy yourself, attempt long shots, and dribble quite quickly. So don't worry, FIFA is the best football game and you’ll understand that quickly. Moreover, PES doesn’t seem to be catching up anytime soon, maybe in two or three years... (PES 2012 is a nice surprise but not quite ready for me yet)
The Career Mode is not "crap," it’s complete without being a Football Manager, of course ;). You will manage your player and your team with pleasure, but it hasn’t evolved much since 2011 (somewhat).
The hardest part is taking the plunge, but it’s all good fun!

The Career Mode is not "crap," it’s complete without being a Football Manager, of course ;). You will manage your player and your team with pleasure, but it hasn’t evolved much since 2011 (somewhat).
The hardest part is taking the plunge, but it’s all good fun!
A joke??? How do some people say "PES is better than FIFA"?
You may prefer playing PES but it's clear that FIFA is better!
In PES you change direction and the player does a feint! Is that a game??
It feels like the players are robots.
Really, there's no comparison!!

Hi, I recommend playing PES because it's 1000 times better than FIFA
Proof: the gameplay in FIFA is unrealistic and very simple, the players are very small, the graphics are poor, and the passes and shots are successful 100% of the time
Meanwhile, PES is much more realistic and challenging, and the online mode in PES is superb! Plus, there are updates every month, trust me, get PES! :D

Really nonsense. On the contrary, FIFA is ultra-realistic while PES is more of an arcade game; the players are not small at all, a completely ridiculous argument pulled from your imagination. The graphics in FIFA are much more beautiful, all the reviews confirm it, and finally, it’s clear that if you play 100% on automatic, you’ll have 100% success in passes and shots ...
Try FIFA 12 before saying that, because in terms of online gameplay, FIFA is much better made. Furthermore, FIFA is CONSTANTLY updated, not just once a month; we even have Season Live, every day we receive online the current form status of all the players, etc.

I also tested both and since PES 6 on PS2, PES has become a rushed, terrible game. But this edition PES 2012 really impressed me, from the very first match played from start to finish, beautiful gameplay, construction, triangle passing, etc... It's the game that comes closest to the reality of the pitch.
While on FIFA a regular player can have fun, for the footballer who wants to experience real football on console, there’s no doubt, it’s PES 2012!!!
