Better satellite reception when it rains

Question

Hello, I am new and let's say, a beginner in the field of satellites. I have the CGV Premio Sat HD-W decoder with Canal Ready.

So I use Canal Sat and Canal+. The reception is impeccable (99%), but the quality is about 60%, I don't understand why it's not higher.
Anyway, when it rains—except for very little—I can't receive channels anymore, except for a few (maybe 10 out of 300!!), and even then the sound and picture are glitching.

What can I do to avoid this? How can I improve the signal?

P.S.: My satellite dish is directly connected to the decoder. I have been subscribed for 4 months; the dish was adjusted a few years ago by Canal Sat (it hasn't moved!).

Hello,

After consulting with people equipped with flat antennas, it turns out that reception during rainy weather is systematically faulty. This seems to be related to the technology of this type of antennas.

As for me, I also have problems with a satellite dish and I strongly suspect that it is related to the loss of waterproofing of the coaxial connection (which I have tried to repair at intervals of several months by replacing the tape). I achieve a respite of several months, but under the effects of rain, sun, and frost, I have to redo the operation once or twice a year.

It might also be the LNB, which is around fifteen years old, that is no longer waterproof, but I don't really have a way to test it because I would then need to re-align it.

It might be worth replacing the LNB and using a non-conductive grease to ensure proper waterproofing.

It may be a pointing imperfection in orientation, adjustments for azimuth, elevation and especially cross-polarization, or due to an insufficient antenna gain in dBi, directly related to the importance of the surface area of the parabolic or flat antenna, resulting in only a minimal margin above the threshold, but sufficient in the absence of rain.

When the rain intensifies, the signal weakens a bit more, some dB, generally 2 or 3 (except during thunderstorms where up to 10 dB are possible), falling below the decoding threshold of the satellite terminal Canal Ready or Fransat, leading to a black screen or pixelation issues. Also check the sealing at the cap of the LNB and if there is a natural obstacle (tree and leaves) in the path of the antenna.
