Hello,

I would like to know if it is possible to remove the sound that plays each time a photo is taken on my camera, an EOS 500D?

Because it can be extremely disturbing if you are inside a museum or similar places.

There is a silent mode, but it is impossible to completely eliminate the noise.

I have a Canon 450D; the "total silence" mode does not exist.

Of course it is possible to mute the sounds emitted by your 500D at each shot.
To do this, you need to go into the menus (see manual)

  Sorry for the late reply. I looked this weekend with the help of a friend on the phone who has a newer CANON than mine, but I didn’t have the same options as him. So, if you can help, it would be really nice because recently I went to visit an aquarium and the noise was more than annoying. Thank you, because on my side I didn’t notice anything.

  1/ I don’t have the 500D, so it may be different as well.
  2/ menu / first tab / sound signal / on or off
  3/ this only removes the "tut tut" sounds emitted during focusing. For the rest (mechanical noises of the mirror and the shutter) they cannot, of course, be removed.

  I have already gone to this menu tab and my audible signal has always been disabled since I got my device, two or three years ago.
  I have the impression that I won't be able to remove this click-click that goes off at every photo/shot.
  Very annoying and especially embarrassing if I find myself in a museum...
  Friends who have newer devices told me that on theirs the sound was light.

No. The sound you hear comes from the various internal mechanisms; such as the opening and closing of the curtains, or the mirror that rises and then lowers.

All of these mechanisms make a certain amount of noise.
