Hello,
Following a wet paper towel cleaning of the aluminum wired keyboard of my iMac, it has become unresponsive.
No keys work anymore; even the light on the Caps Lock key doesn't turn on.
I checked the keyboard connection and changed the USB port: same result.
However, the keyboard is recognized: upon restart, I don’t see the message indicating that no keyboard is connected. It also appears in "System Information / Hardware / USB."
I couldn't verify on another session, nor boot the Mac in "Command + S" mode because I don't have a keyboard to enter my username and password (the keyboard viewer can only be activated afterward).
I have two hypotheses:
1. Moisture may have entered and created a short circuit --> I will try to dry it (without heating it)
2. I might have accidentally activated a key combination that would disable the keyboard (I believe there is a simple way to lock a keyboard on PC; is there something similar on Mac? Mac owners must also have young children or a cat)
My question: Is there a key combination on MacOS that can lock/unlock the keyboard?
Thank you in advance
P.S.: This is the first time this has happened to me in 35 years; there's a first time for everything!
Configuration: MacOS 10.5.8 / Camino
