Convert 1 PPS slideshow to PPT format

I didn't see the simplest solution in the answers: you simply change the s in pps to a t, using the "rename" function, which you can access by right-clicking on the name of the slideshow. That's it. It will ask if you really want to change the extension, and you say yes. And this applies to changing from ppt to pps as well.

Here is the solution:

Download OpenOffice, it's free and make sure to get the version for Windows and not for Linux. It's the equivalent of Microsoft Office, so Word, Excel, Access, etc... Open Impress is what allows you to create presentations like with PowerPoint.

That's it, mission accomplished!

To change a PPS to PPT:
1 - open PowerPoint
2 - click "File --> Open" and open the PPS
3 - Save as PPT format

And your file is converted to PPT format

I’m using version 2002 and this procedure works.

HOW TO CONVERT A SLIDESHOW

1/- Create the slideshow with PowerPoint 2007 (regardless of its size)
2/- Save it in ppt (x) format to keep a record of it
3/- Then save it as "JPEG Exchange File" (all images)
4/- Next, use "Photo Story 3" from Microsoft (which is free and very handy) to create the desired file by adding a musical background (or your comments) if you wish.
5/- It is possible to send the resulting WMV file to your friends (or enemies), depending on the case. Depending on the number of images, this file is around 5/6 MB but it can be compressed to 2/3 MB using Windows Movie Maker.
6/- There is no need to look for conversion software in whatever format, including FLV. To convert other image files, however, the most comprehensive remains AVS6... I do mean for files other than slideshows containing images.

I have a Mac; I receive slides in PPS; I convert them to PPT; I extract the WAV sound which I place on the desktop; then I start both separately; but couldn't it be recorded so that they start automatically together? (The drop-down menu "save video with sound" doesn't yield anything... or maybe I don't know how to do it... Does anyone have an idea? Thank you!

For your acx31 method (change the "s" to "t"), it doesn’t work with the 2007 version of PowerPoint...
In any case, I'm on Vista, with PowerPoint 2007, and this method doesn't work.

To convert a pps file to ppt, you open the pps file in PowerPoint, then click on "File," then click on "New," and after that, click "File - Save As."
