Music on slideshow - OpenOffice Impress Solved

Question

Hello,

I am creating a slideshow on OpenOffice.Org Impress and I would like to insert music to enliven my presentation. I can't seem to find this feature; however, it seems to me that it is possible. Could you please tell me how to do it? I would like the same track to play throughout my slideshow, without any interruptions. Thank you in advance!

Hi Milly

You select all your slides, go to the transition menu, and under "modify transition," you choose Sound then Other Sound, you select your file (like an mp3 on your hard drive), and check the box "loop until sound ends," and there you go.

I tried both  for PowerPoint, it shows me the error message that I sent  and for Impress in (file type) it gives me either SON type or MIDI type, and for both types I cannot open any files.

Thank you for your message; I just tried what you told me, but indeed it is not possible to insert an mp3 sound: it only says "sound" or "MIDI", that's it... and I am using the Impress software (not Powerpoint). But I think I may not have the latest version of Impress, and that's probably why I can't insert an mp3. In any case, after having "sifted through" all the forums, websites, software... I finally found a really nice software, easy to use, where you can put any photos you want, find lots of great transitions, and above all, you can play any music you want continuously!!! It's Photostory 3 for Windows; it is actually quite recommended on this forum, and it's really excellent!

Indeed, I checked this this morning while installing both versions, this option only exists in version 2.3 of Impress..

But if your goal was just to create a slideshow with music and photos, then it is indeed not the most suitable. Photo Story is very handy and very simple. Personally, I prefer to work with Windows Movie Maker, which is standard on winXP and is a video editing software, but is perfect for photo editing.

Hello

First, the task pane needs to be displayed on the left. If it's not the case, go to the view menu and check the task pane option. Then, open menu 2: Edit Video and click on Show Video Transitions. All the transitions will appear. You just need to click/drag the one you want between 2 video clips or 2 photos.

Hello

with version 2.3 of OpenOffice, you position yourself on the first slide, choose to expand the transition menu on the right, select Modify Transition, then Other Sound where it says "sound", choose your sound file from your hard drive, and check the box "loop until sound ends". I have the same issue. How do I merge the music with the slideshow?

Everything works fine when the slideshow plays on the computer where the music is saved on one side and the slideshow on the other, but if you want to give the slideshow to someone, they won’t have the sound anymore.

Do not try to insert music into the slideshow but select the automatically progressing slideshow put the audio CD into the CD player wait for the Audio dialogue box to appear playing an audio CD is pre-selected, click OK double click on the desired track then start the selected slideshow

With Impress3, if you want sound throughout the entire slideshow, proceed as follows: 1. make sure there is no sound on all the slides. 2. select only the first slide, choose Transition (right panel) - Sound - Other sound - select 3. check "loop until..." 4. save and press F5 to see the result. To prevent the music from restarting on each slide, make sure not to click on "apply to all slides."
You need to go to the first slide, select "transition," "insert sound," click on "loop," and that’s it.
ABSOLUTELY DO NOT CLICK ON "apply to all slides."

I accidentally (and unfortunately) clicked on "apply to all slides" because it wasn't working, the music was only playing on the first slide, and now it's playing on all the slides, but the problem is that it (the music) restarts on each slide...
