there are ribbon cables and ribbon cables!!
if the ribbon cable is made of wires glued with plastic, it can be soldered with a fine tipped soldering iron and "electronic" solder
if it's a printed ribbon on a plastic film, it's (almost) impossible to solder it yourself, but it can also be repaired with silver lacquer (which is used to repair car defrosting glasses) -
