Hello everyone,
I've been struggling to detect a failure that's causing
blue screens at any moment, and I've come to the conclusion that it comes from my RAM sticks.
A small detail is that my old ones are OCZ DDR3 PC3 10666 2GB, and when I was reordering, I made a mistake and ordered 8500 2GB.
What is the difference between the two, and can I use them anyway?
I'm running XP Pro with a Gigabyte EP45-UD3LR.
Thanks in advance.

There must be 2 models, one with DDR2 and the other with DDR3. As for the frequencies, did you confuse the designations PC8500 which corresponds to DDR3 1066MHz and PC10600 which corresponds to DDR3 1333MHz?

Yes, completely. I saw "gold edition" as the reference for my old memory and took it without paying attention to that "detail."
From what I've been told, the 8500 will be slower but, on the other hand, they'll be more stable.
I ran a memtest with the bootable software on the new 8500 sticks and it indicates errors. I feel like there's something else going on... -
Hi,
The weird thing is that DDR3 is incompatible with your motherboard. -

Hi
You have errors with MemTest on the PC3-8500 sticks, and if you use these sticks, as long as the timings match those of the 10600, at best your RAM will run at 1066MHz instead of the previous 1333MHz. Request an exchange.
What is this invention that 1066MHz would be more stable than 1333MHz? Where are you getting this from?

Before asking a question: 1° Turn on your brain, your PC doesn’t think for you!
2° Google is your friend, the search engine of CCM too, make a search! -
What I wanted to make you understand is that the same memory sticks can be presented in two ways. For example, DDR3 1066MHz can be marketed under the commercial name PC8500, even though it is the same product.

When I called the supplier for a possible refund, it was him who told me that this model (the OCZ 10666 Gold Edition) could be a factor of instability for my hardware and that the 8500s would potentially reduce this risk. However, he said that if they didn’t work for me, I could return them anyway.
For now, my computer is no longer giving me blue screens...
