Hello,
I would like to know if there is software similar to Autoroute that takes into account the type of vehicle, such as a semi-truck.
Thank you.

The "La Girafe" models are working well today; these products had some teething issues that have been fixed in the latest software versions. I acquired a GEOSAT 5 LA GIRAFE nearly 6 months ago, and it works perfectly. The hotline responds well to technical questions, and the software updates are free for two years!
I realize that we all encounter the same issues and anxieties when it comes to routing problems with these infamous heavy goods vehicles.
All drivers are chasing after the miracle product that will finally allow us to arrive safely without facing difficulties that can often cost us our driving license, or even worse.
I drive a semi-trailer as well and have gathered a lot of information about GPS devices that, if we believe the people selling them, are more than efficient and allow us to arrive without difficulty.
After making my choice, I went for the famous Snooper Proline S2000.
I traveled miles to pick it up, and after the seller's explanation about this product, and despite the price invested, I felt quite reassured, without anxiety to travel in my semi. But after trying the Snooper, I must clarify to all heavy goods drivers that I was more than disgusted by the mess this GPS got me into. Admittedly, it has some capability, but the seller's claim that this product guides us to the most accessible routes for time-saving is just nonsense, because thanks to Snooper, I almost lost my rig, my driving license, and could have received a load of trouble like a dozen reports. Great job on the time-saving, despite entering all the dimensions of the vehicle, it didn’t hesitate to send me through prohibited routes for heavy vehicles in transit. Fortunately, I didn’t encounter the police, and to top it off, I found myself, despite the Snooper's guidance, crossing through a town that is absolutely forbidden for heavy vehicles: the truck was wider than the road, all the wheels were rubbing against the sidewalks! Imagine the noise, I had to keep going despite everything, following the route the Snooper was telling me. It’s easy to be famous, because with the friction it was causing, all the people were coming out of bakeries, butcher shops, in short, all the businesses. I even endured insults from charming individuals coming out of a betting establishment, but I didn’t waste time with those idiots, I just wanted to get out of that mess before the cops showed up. Believe me, it was something; I still see the scared faces of people as the big machine passed through their village! It caused a huge commotion because after passing through the village, I had to tackle the exit. I’ve never seen so many cars to avoid, and the right of way wasn’t on my side; I was really scared, I was more than hot under pressure, but I still managed to get out of it. I wouldn’t wish that on anyone; we always encounter cold sweats aboard our rigs, but I must say to all of you, fellow heavy goods drivers, trust only yourselves. All these little GPS toys can help out, but never fully trust them knowing that the people putting this on the market have never driven heavy vehicles! I wanted to explain all this following numerous people, like me, looking for a reliable work tool, which should be called, in the proper sense of the term, a heavy vehicle GPS. Nevertheless, I do intend to confront my seller and get a refund for this garbage that’s only good for highway driving! Good luck to all and choose your GPS wisely; for me, I think the best GPS is our good old maps and our brains. Safe travels to all!

I also went through the same hassle in Rotterdam. I was in a very narrow street, my GPS told me to turn left, which was prohibited for trucks, and it got even narrower, with a dead end straight ahead. I asked a passerby for directions, and he told me to take the road to the right and to definitely not turn left at the next intersection. When I got there, my GPS was telling me to turn left, even though it was prohibited for vehicles over 2500 kg, with a wooden bridge. I arrived an hour late and my boss was on my back. My GPS is a Danew bought at a gas station on the highway for €279. Next time it does that, it’s going out the window.
Hello, I own the Snooper 7000 Truckmate, but I'm seriously starting to have doubts; After a complaint to Snooper France and sending the SD card by mail for an update, it turns out that the list of POIs is longer, as well as certain sections that now appear (even though these portions have been operational for some time), but the heavy vehicle navigation is quite erratic, to say the least in some cases; I find it unacceptable that a device of this price is not more reliable! But I don't intend to stop here. This is a surefire way to accumulate fines (in the best case), or even lose your license, or cause serious damage! A 40-ton truck struggles to navigate municipal roads, as well as alleys where one would hesitate to venture out on a bicycle!!!
I made the mistake, like you, of buying that piece of junk Snooper S2000; it's worthless, zero, triple zero. I found myself in bad situations, going through villages, city centers, etc... One day, it broke down (it lasted 2 years for over 500 euros!!!). I was almost glad! I bought a regular GPS, a Navigon 8410 which isn't heavy-duty; it's more efficient than the other one. It shows me all the industrial zones and really provides the most practical routes while avoiding urban areas... for a much lower price, I paid 250 euros a year ago... now I'm looking to buy a heavy-duty GPS (not a piece of junk) because I've changed companies and I pull a mega-volume trailer (4.25 m in height) nationally. I see new heavy-duty GPS units on Le Bon Coin for 165 euros. What are they worth? If anyone can give me their opinion on these models... Thanks in advance.
Good evening
I'm sorry, but currently no GPS offers this function for trucks (height and width of bridges, etc.).
However, in a few weeks (around early November), a new product: the first mobile navigation system for trucks (Truck Navigator) will be launched on the market.
The map&guide truck navigator software takes into account the height, width, and load capacity of bridges, as well as roads prohibited to trucks in France.
We just have to wait for its arrival!
Best regards

To be truly a Heavy Goods Vehicle GPS, it is not enough for obstacles (low bridges, narrow roads, etc.) to be considered as POIs, but they must also be taken into account during the initial route calculation, which no one had done until now. I finally found one, it is not available yet, but it does exactly what I was looking for:
So here is the first REAL Heavy Goods Vehicle GPS, which I am eagerly awaiting:

Hello, if a GPS PL exists and is for sale for 576 euros, I saw the ad in a magazine called "Les Routiers." The brand of the GPS is Garmin. I was looking for the website when I stumbled upon the forum.
Hello everyone
I just bought the Garmin 250 Europe and I downloaded the Girafe software for PL use.
All the data is well recorded in the POIs, but I can’t get it to work; when I go under a bridge of a certain height, it doesn’t show any alarms to indicate the different heights and widths.
Is there anyone who can help me get it to work properly?
Thanks in advance for your responses.
PS: One piece of advice, avoid buying a GPS and then downloading the Girafe because it’s crap, there’s no technical support even though there’s a phone number, but no one answers; you get a voicemail that’s full 24/7. I’m really pissed off for having listened to that sales jerk from Boulanger who told me there’s technical support to help and that this software is the best out there; he really learned his lesson well and he’ll get his reward.

Hello, there is a new truck GPS, a real
GPS that takes dimensions into account before entering a route; you have to enter the dimensions (for me, that of a semi-trailer)
it has built-in TNT
the problem is the price, ouch, wow
a little over €750 including tax
I’m thinking of treating myself to it through my company to reclaim the VAT (that brings the price down to around €625; I’ll give you my impressions when I’ve used it
the site (in English) (thanks Google Translator) all the info I’m passing on the address

For PC Navigator, I downloaded it for free. I use it on my PC with a GPS antenna. It mainly serves me to visualize the streets I need to go to because it's 60% reliable. I drive the old-fashioned way with my good old maps.
Hello, are you sure about the name of the software? Has it been released?
Thank you for your potential response

Hello,
yes, it exists at https://boutique.routiers.com/gps.asp
It is GPS Garmin including weight limits, bridge heights for the 95 French departments, that is to say 11,000 bridges.

Good evening to you all
I purchased the Garmin 250 Europe special for heavy goods vehicles a month and a half ago for €379. It's not bad, except that this GPS keeps you in car mode. It will take you through city centers.
On the other hand, it does correctly indicate speed cameras, bridges, heights, and widths.
For me, it is not advisable for a truck driver.

Hello,
to answer your question about the truck GPS, go to Google and type in Snooper, it's the Sirius Expert 2500.
for your information
France €690
Europe €790

You have km.tm and you need the SIRET numbers of your company and you enter your address for billing; it's about 300 euros and automatically updated, but everything for PL and SPL bridges, roads, etc.
Otherwise, wait a bit, I'm getting mine from my box at the beginning of the week, it's specifically for transport but specifically for road!

the snooper S1000 for heavy goods vehicles, don’t trust it. For example, Brussels to Madrid is normally 1580 km, but with the snooper it’s 1980 km + all the routes prohibited for heavy vehicles, adding 8 hours to the trip. It even takes you through city centers when you could just stay on the highway and be at the client’s. Plus, when you’re just 1 km away from the client, it makes you take a detour of over 20 kilometers. Good luck and leave this toy in the store; you’ll save time and money. P.S. less hassle.
