How to set up a repeater

Hi Gouril,
yes, my router is on DHCP and its address is 192.168.0.1.
The repeater has a fixed address of 192.168.0.11 and I've set its gateway to the router's IP. Is that correct? However, I haven't seen the option to set it to bridge mode?
My laptop also has a fixed address. It sees the wireless network.
The signal is strong, meaning that the repeater has amplified the signal well.
I can access the repeater from the laptop, but for example, I can't ping the router's IP 192.168.0.1 from the laptop.
Why?

It's all weird.

You have the main router, it broadcasts an SSID name, and you have a repeater that should refer to the main router, in order to allow you to move, to change Wi-Fi sources, but remain connected. And at your place, that's not the case.

There's a problem, or I don't know.

Can you take a screenshot of each screen of the repeater and send them to me? Either via an online link, or through my profile on my website with the mentioned email address.

Well, you need that of the modem router, it's the exit point, also called the default gateway.

thank you for your reply but I didn't understand. I read the posts you sent me the link to and it seems to me that I'm doing the same thing.
But it still doesn't work.
My modem is on DHCP, the repeater has a fixed address as well as my laptop. This time, I can ping from the laptop to the repeater but I have no internet.
On the laptop, I set an address in the same range as the repeater.
For the gateway, I set the repeater's IP.
I also disabled the Windows firewall.
I don't know what else to do.
Do you have any other ideas?

I don't want to be unpleasant, but rather than killing yourself by repeating the obvious (the repeater repeats...), it might be wiser to focus on the subtleties: what does the end client see,
should they try to connect to the repeater or continue to interact with the main router as if nothing has changed...?

Changing the SSID, yes, but why, and what should be put in its place??
Wanting to help is nice, but if it's just to show off your knowledge by throwing out riddles, that's not great.

Your device scans the transmitters, unlike some that scan the SSIDs.

I think you've finally understood.

Hello,

On your PC, you should have the default gateway (also known as gateway) as the IP address for outgoing internet access => so the modem router.

If it doesn't work, try manual IPs. We'll fix that later.

Do what I say so that everything works, and I'll explain the why and how later.

Last thing I see.

In the network settings, you make a new connection, you create a new connection with the following options: network structure, connection to local network, local network without internet.

It shows an image of the new configuration recording, and then you will check that the IPs haven't changed on your laptop.

After this, it should work.

Hello,

After thoroughly examining the screenshots, I noticed 2 things that are problematic.

Firstly, you have a DHCP of 5 addresses starting from 192.168.0.
10 and you have already picked up 1 for the repeater. So this needs to be corrected, it's true that it's secondary, but it could cause issues. So move your repeater which is currently at 192.168.0.11 to 192.168.0.2.

Secondly, you have a MAC address control list, which is great, but you add a device to your network, and you don't reference it with the MAC address. So add the MAC address of the repeater which ends in D9:B3 to the Motorola router which has the MAC address ending in D2:34.


After that, it should work.
