How to set up a repeater

Hello,
I'm trying to share an internet connection from my wireless modem-router with a repeater. With my laptop, I can see that the signal is amplified, so the repeater is working, but if I try to access the internet, it's impossible. It's also impossible to "ping" the repeater.
It's as if the repeater is not recognized by the laptop.
My router works on DHCP, so the repeater has a dynamic address. Should I instead set a fixed address for the repeater?
Can someone help me, because I'm really stuck here...
Thank you very much.

Hi, you misunderstood me.

Modem with DHCP is wrong, because it's a router.

That said, let's say MAIN router.

On your main router, switch to bridge mode and if it becomes a repeater, it must repeat the information from whom? From the IP of the main router.

Thus, the DHCP of the repeater is moved to the main one. (Makes sense, it is a repeater.)

The portable device connects without any problem to the internet.

See you soon

Hi Gouril,
I'm starting to mix things up...
To summarize. Should I set the router to DHCP?
But in bridge mode? I'm not sure if I can do that.
I'll try it tonight.
And the repeater, should I set it to a static IP?
Thanks for summarizing this more clearly for me.
Best regards.
Johnny
