Printer as a storage device

Hello,
some time ago my PC started recognizing my HP printer only as a storage device. The "safely remove hardware" icon appears every time I plug it in, and I can no longer print.
However, sometimes when the HP All-in-One software launches, I can print the test page. But I can't print any documents anymore.
I've uninstalled and reinstalled everything, but it hasn't changed anything.
I really need help; I know nothing about USB devices, etc. ...
Help!
Configuration: Windows Vista / Firefox 3.6.17

Hello, when you plug in your printer, Windows recognizes that you've connected something and the new device wizard starts. You need to close it and first unplug the printer from the computer and install the driver you have on the CD (if they are not for Vista, check on the HP website), then a message will tell you to plug in your printer and everything will happen automatically. You restart at the end of the installation and it’s ready!
Finally, to start, uninstall your printer by going to the device manager (Win + Pause), locate your printer (which is in the USB category if it is USB) and then right-click/uninstall, then delete the driver. Now, go to Add/Remove Programs and uninstall HP All in One (or the software for your printer) and then restart. Insert your CD with the Vista drivers and reinstall everything. It should work after a restart.

Weird! Does your printer have a card reader? Can you give me the details of your printer (brand and model)?
It's an HP Photosmart C5100 All-in-One, and yes, it has a card reader on it (but so far that has never been an issue, I’ve been able to use the printer normally for two and a half years)!
Yes! Oh, and before, when my PC recognized it as a printer, when it was working, there were 15 versions, well my PC offered to use the C5100 number 1, 2, etc. up to 15, and each time I had to choose the highest number. All that while I only ever plugged this printer in. I don’t know if that’s clear...
The thing is, I already uninstalled HP All in One and all the HP stuff I could find in the programs, then I inserted the Vista CD and when it told me to plug in the printer, I did, the installation continued, and I restarted, and now, it's the same problem as before, my PC only recognizes it as a storage device G, and when I check this device in the workstation, it tells me to insert a storage device...
