Printer prints garbled texts

Hello,

My printer only prints part of the text; the other part is cut off.

My printer is a PIXMA iP4200 and it’s new; we bought it last year.

In your opinion, should I change the cartridge holder?

The level of the black cartridge is low (but not empty); the other one is full.

Finally, and this is the most important, what advice would you give to avoid having this problem in the future?

    take out the concerned cartridge
    shake it,
    wipe the nozzles (on the copper part) with a tissue,
    start the nozzle cleaning with your printer
    if that doesn't work, it's just that you have no ink left!
    5€ and you're good for a few months!!

    ps: their level is an indicator, it's anything but reliable
