I am looking for free software that allows me to easily create an intranet site for a small business.
Is there anything available?

    Hello, I'm also looking for a free, open-source intranet software, and I came across this post that I will slightly expand.
    We should perhaps define what we mean by "intranet" as Harimbola did. For me, it's a space reserved for employees (we are 25) where we can find shared documents, the directory, a forum, news among us, but not too much since chatting isn't the company's job. For that, Elgg doesn't have the right specifications, openatrium seems okay, and I also found service-intranet.com.

    I also have the same problem; is this openatrium available without an internet connection?
    If not, do you have anything else to suggest, please?
    In fact, my problem is similar to this: in a small company, I would like to create an intranet platform (to be able to share files, communicate on a forum, chat, and share news about the company, upcoming events... and host it on my PC).

    What I am looking for is an area reserved for employees with document sharing, a directory, a forum, and a chat tool.

    Do you know of a tool that would be similar to that, please?

      Hello Jbrtrn, Yes, for 40 people, with these functions, I'm thinking of www.service-intranet.com as a solution. It's open source, the software is free, but you should budget a small amount for support that suits small businesses. Good luck with your project!
