Hello,
I’ve been browsing the forums, but most talk about phones dropped in water. Mine got soaked in a puddle of beer spilled by a friend tonight. Once I got home (about 1.5 hours later), I took the phone apart (battery, SIM, memory card) and left it to dry, hoping for an improvement by tomorrow or even the day after.
MY QUESTION IS, is there any hope of seeing my phone come back to life after being soaked in a puddle of beer? I mean, is the pH of the beer really dangerous for the components? I think I did what I needed to do to handle the crisis in case of contact with a liquid, but if I need to start praying to the phone gods, I’d like to know as soon as possible.
Thank you in advance.
For your information, my phone is a Sony Ericson W580i that has survived many adventures so far.
Configuration: Windows 7 / Firefox 3.6.16

Hello,
On the evening of the 31st, I dropped my touchscreen Nokia into my beer...
I immediately took it apart and left it that way until the next evening.
The next day, it wasn't working very well, and there was condensation on the screen. So, I opened the phone again.
After a night on a radiator, everything works... except the speaker which sounds terrible.
After 2 or 3 days everything was okay.
... and now, the camera flash doesn't work anymore!! :(
I also noticed that some buttons (the on/off one among others) tend to stay pressed down too!
But I can make calls!
Feeling a bit ashamed to say that my phone fell in beer, I still left this message about the flash:

But I haven't received a response!
See you later

Well, after a night of drying (it's quite warm around here), the phone is working perfectly :)

Indeed, you have a lot of hope. Alcohol is generally bad for anything related to electronics. And when phones start working again after being dropped in water, they still might not function properly and often have bugs. If it works again, it's just giving it hope for a few days, but not in the long term. I'm telling you this because I dropped my 3410 in water back in the day, and it turned back on after falling into a puddle, but it would sometimes bug out, and one day it just never turned back on.
