I've followed all the procedures to install the Mustek 1200 UB Plus scanner driver under Vista, it works, but I have a problem: how can I start a scan since I have no functions available on the scanner. I have to do it from the computer but I don't know where to go!!

drivers: for detecting the right drivers and downloading them

and click on "Start detection" (at the bottom of the window)
accept the ActiveX control
let it run and a page will display with files in blue
by clicking on the link, you will download the right drivers
- make sure to already install the motherboard chipsets
- restart the search to finish
- if a chipset is poorly installed, you will have a file that is incorrect or doesn't appear for the rest

I found myself in the same situation as you (Mustek 1200 UB Plus scanner to run under Vista) and I eventually found the workaround on an American site...
Here is the procedure:
-Do not connect the scanner to the USB port
-On the website http://www.mustek.de/cgi-bin/verifyserial.cgi download the file suitable for Windows 98/2000/XP (in the 4th line)
-Start the installation
-When the "language selection" window appears, do nothing
-Copy the file C:/Windows/Temp into a new file created in C:/ (e.g., C:/Mustek)
-Connect the scanner, let Windows search for the drivers
-When the message indicating that Windows could not find suitable drivers appears, click on "search for drivers on the computer"
-Select the folder containing the copies of C:/Windows/Temp (e.g., C:/Mustek)

And there, if everything goes smoothly, the drivers are installed correctly and the old scanner comes out of retirement =)
