I've followed all the procedures to install the Mustek 1200 UB Plus scanner driver under Vista, it works, but I have a problem: how can I start a scan since I have no functions available on the scanner. I have to do it from the computer but I don't know where to go!!

drivers: for detecting the right drivers and downloading them
https://www.touslesdrivers.com/index.php?v_page=29
and click on "Start detection" (at the bottom of the window)
accept the ActiveX control
let it run and a page will display with files in blue
by clicking on the link, you will download the right drivers
- make sure to already install the motherboard chipsets
- restart the search to finish
- if a chipset is poorly installed, you will have a file that is incorrect or doesn't appear for the rest

I just discovered your message and I can tell you that I solved this problem. The installation of the software provided with the scanner went smoothly, but at the time of the restart, the USB port was not recognized. To remedy this, I added a PCI card with USB ports and connected my scanner to it, and since then everything has been working perfectly. It seems that the motherboard can't keep up because the scanner is powered only by the USB port. There you go, I hope this can help others.

I found myself in the same situation as you (Mustek 1200 UB Plus scanner to run under Vista) and I eventually found the workaround on an American site...
Here is the procedure:
-Do not connect the scanner to the USB port
-On the website http://www.mustek.de/cgi-bin/verifyserial.cgi download the file suitable for Windows 98/2000/XP (in the 4th line)
-Start the installation
-When the "language selection" window appears, do nothing
-Copy the file C:/Windows/Temp into a new file created in C:/ (e.g., C:/Mustek)
-Connect the scanner, let Windows search for the drivers
-When the message indicating that Windows could not find suitable drivers appears, click on "search for drivers on the computer"
-Select the folder containing the copies of C:/Windows/Temp (e.g., C:/Mustek)
And there, if everything goes smoothly, the drivers are installed correctly and the old scanner comes out of retirement =)
