Hello,
I’m reaching out on behalf of a friend who is "stuck" without any internet connection.
She has an iMac PowerPC G4 1.1
It takes an hour to start up and shows a nonsensical date, and it no longer connects to the internet.
We think it might be a battery issue, but... Where is the battery located and how do we change it? And can we still easily find (in Toulouse) batteries for this relatively old Mac model?
Thank you in advance for your help :)

Hello,
The iMac G4 is the so-called "Flat Panel" or "Sunflower" iMac. These are the iMacs with an articulated screen.
If it is indeed a model of this type, the battery is located in the lower part of the Mac.
You need to remove the bottom cover, then you can access the so-called "client" memory and possibly the Airport card. You then need to remove the lower part to go further. You will then have access to the motherboard where the battery is located (the area known as "Factory").
You can see all this in this manual in English:

These batteries were fairly easy to find a few years ago at Mac Way, but today... we'll see
You need to plan for thermal paste, which should be reapplied on the designated pads.
If needed, to find an Apple Authorized Service Provider near you:

Always indicate your exact configuration: Mac model and Mac OS version!
