Hello everyone,
I would like to know if adding a ".dll" file to a software (in C:\program files\) requires me to make a modification in the registry for the .dll to be recognized?? If yes, what type of modification do I need to make??
I hope this is clear, thank you in advance for your responses

It depends on the DLLs.
For some, just placing them next to the EXE that uses them is enough.
For others, they need to be in c:\windows\system32
Finally, some DLLs need to be registered (with regsvr32 for example).
And some DLLs require registry settings (so we can't just "install" these DLLs manually).-
Hello sebsauvage, Audacity, the audio editing software, requires the .dll = "lame_enc.dll" to be able to save files in .mp3. I found the .dll online, and I would first like to know if the site (here) is good and if I can trust it. Then I would like to know how to place the .dll file where it belongs.
I hope I have been clear and understandable.
Best regards.
