Hello,

following the fact that I was unable to read certain mp3 files with the mp4 player, I was suggested to convert those same mp3 files by changing the encoding of those files.

I used the free mp3 converter software; however, when I convert the mp3 files by changing the encoding (to 192 for example), it gives me files of 2kb!!!
What is the problem, please?
Thank you

Configuration: Windows 7 / Internet Explorer 8.0

Good evening

I don't know, but I use "Switch Sound File Converter" which works really well:

good luck

Thank you, before downloading it, are you sure it can convert MP3 to MP3 without any issues and that changing the encoding works?
Thank you

Yes, I've done that before and it works; we can say that it "regularizes"...

In the output, we have a choice of flow rate.

Hi, I'm sorry, but it's not working; it gives me the same result as with free mp3 converter;
in "encoder bitrate", I selected 128 (then I tried with 192 and then with 320), but it gives me empty files of 2 kb!!!

What am I doing wrong?
Thank you

I believe the original files are either already corrupted or incompatible, but I hadn't checked, so when I try to read them, it's not possible; maybe the problem is there.
These are music files that I downloaded, and it is clearly marked mp3 in properties, but there is no other indication in "details."

Well, I converted files that could be read with Winamp, which caused issues elsewhere...

Otherwise, I have the same kind of problem when I want to convert an mpg video file (from ADSL TV for example) to .avi with VirtualDub.
If it doesn't have the right codec to play, I get an error message and an empty file of a few KB.

It would be a good idea to try to play these files with Winamp, VLC, Windows Media Player... to see if they work.

Well yes, exactly, it's just that they don't work with Windows Media; does that mean they are corrupted or should I try with another player?
Anyway, when I put them on the MP4, it wasn't able to play them.
Best regards

well if we can't read them with another player, it's quite possible that they're corrupted...

(common players: Winamp, VLC, etc...)

however, I don't know any way to test them before downloading
