Good evening,
Stupid question but I spent 2 hours with Gimp and Paint on it:
I have an image in the shape of a rectangle. And I want to cut it to make 2 right triangles. So I want to cut the rectangle along the diagonal.
How can I do this? I tried using the scissors tool but it operates with "smart" cutting that doesn't cut straight.
Thank you
Gilou

Hello,
You know, no, you don’t know, and that’s fine either way, I’m just a simple man. I’ve always operated under the principle that a rectangle can be cut across. As I told you, I'm simple, so I do simple things and to cut an image in half, well I use the pen tool, which is called the path tool in GIMP, I point to one corner, I point to the opposite corner, from there I make another point at the top (or bottom or anywhere actually) and I connect my first point while holding down the Ctrl key. Then I go to Select and I choose From Path and miraculously the selection starts to shimmer and I can apply a vague sepia tone to the selected triangle http://ioj.com/v/47hwv .... ;-)
I had forgotten the cut: http://ioj.com/v/ki55w

See you later
It's a hassle, but it works.
Thank you
