Locked Word file Solved

Question

Hello, When I try to edit a Word document, a message appears in the bottom left saying that it is locked and I cannot make changes. It is not read-only. Thank you for your help Mao

I found it! Finally, it worked for me,
go to "options" (if you can't find it, print --> print preview --> icon at the top left) Then click on the "resources" tab, there you click on the "activate" button in the activate Microsoft Office section, a window will appear, you click on convert and then enter your key ... close all your Microsoft windows and relaunch them !!!!! It works (at least for me)

RESPONSE!!!!!!! I had the same issues as you and I simply reinstalled Office after uninstalling it and restarting, and it worked.

I also had the same problem.
I had a trial version installed on my laptop, which I have had for a little while.
(I should mention that I'm using Vista for those who might want to follow my steps, so I don't know if it works for other systems)
Everything was blocked; I couldn't even follow the advice given on this forum because when I had a document open,
the Microsoft Office icon only had a few available functions (open, print, and close, I believe).
Here is the procedure I followed:
- on one hand, I hadn't activated my version.
To do this, you need to click on the Microsoft Office shortcut and then follow the instructions.
However, it still didn't work.
I had read that I needed to disable the lock in the "Review" tab of Word, but it was not accessible ...
Ultimately, my problem was due to the "security" placed on this software.

There, in the "security" tab, look in the "groups or user names" window
By clicking on the available "names," the window below displays "permissions for + "name".
If, like me, some of your "names" did not have the "write" or "modify" (or other) option enabled, click on the "edit" button, then enable them (don’t forget to click on "apply" before closing your window).
With that, I was finally able to make modifications to my documents!! (ugh ... I was scared)

In fact, for everything that is in the "locked" or "secured" PDF format, I simply use a small free software: pdf unlocker.
You just need to drag the locked file onto the "unlocker" icon and it magically unlocks!!! Simple and brilliant!

However, I have a problem... I can no longer select what I want to copy/paste from my PDF file to Word. More generally, I can no longer drag and drop.

Hello everyone, I am on Vista and I had exactly this issue

solution: launch Microsoft Office trial and request a new evaluation key (copy and paste it) and launch Word, which will display an expired version message (click on convert and copy and paste the key) and let Word install... close the Word windows then go to the control panel and launch "Windows Update," which will show you 4 updates, install them and the problem will be solved ^^

I had the same problem with another software some time ago, and it was enough to change the computer's date to a time when you still had your trial version. For example, if you installed a version that can be used for 30 days and it's April 1, 2009, you need to set your computer to a date between April 1, 2009, and April 30, 2009. I don't know if this works for Word. However, you need to update it again afterward; otherwise, other software installed on your PC will malfunction.

As far as I'm concerned, I had the same problem.
I installed Word 7 and created a document, and when I wanted to open it a few days later, I couldn't modify it because of a message stating that it's locked.
I closed the document and reopened it, and the following message appeared:

Activate the key (which already exists when you installed Word 7) via the internet (recommended) or by phone.
So I clicked "via the internet," then "next," and then I received a Microsoft message telling me that my key is successfully activated, and I was able to reopen my documents and work on them.

Mon problème était que tous mes fichiers PDF s'ouvraient avec WordPad mais en lettres codées. J'ai téléchargé Adobe (lecture PDF). Puis il faut aller sur Panneau de configuration, cliquer sur Programmes, choisir : "Toujours un type de fichier avec un programme spécifique", attendre le chargement, choisir les fichiers PDF ; cliquer sur "Changer de programme" en haut à droite, puis sélectionner Adobe, cliquer sur OK ; l'application est lisible, bon courage.

For me, I did a right-click on my Word folder that I wanted to open, selected "open with," and when I did it again with Word, it worked. I hope it works for you too.

Well, as a reminder, one of the solutions (I've had the problem) is to place the Microsoft icon on the desktop. Then, right-click on it. Click on properties, click on the general tab and finally, check and uncheck the read-only box at the bottom of the page.
