Hello,
My neighbor just gave me a Sony cathodic television, but surprise, when I turned it on, the image is pink!!! Is it repairable? And if so, does anyone know approximately how much it will cost me?

Hello everyone
I’m dusting off my analog TV lessons and rereading (summary) the cathode ray tube has three electron guns: BLUE, RED, and GREEN. Through a clever combination of the three guns, WHITE is achieved by addition and BLACK by subtraction. After a certain amount of operating time, the cathode ray tube gets worn out, and since there are three guns, one of them may wear out prematurely. This leads to a WHITE that is no longer pure but has a pinkish or reddish tint depending on which color is missing (here, blue). A simple measurement at the base of the cathode ray tube by a technician will confirm the diagnosis of a worn-out cathode ray tube. At that point, there’s nothing more to be done. Our friend Tarscon is looking for the problem elsewhere; he may not be right to give such hopes. Television is a field I’ve worked in for forty years, and I haven’t seen it all, as it is true that today it is uncertain to repair a digital chassis (sadly)

Good evening: 99.9 percent, the problem arises from the PAL/SECAM decoder or 1 or 2 of the 3 VBR CRT resistors, a worn tube does not cut off 1 or 2 colors

I didn't say "cut," I said "dampen!" If the cathode flow is uneven, the "trichrome dosing is not good and the image no longer has its "white" reference, but is "colored."
I will stop this outdated and useless discussion because you can’t make something new out of the old, and your flawed decoding circuit has nothing to do with the wear of a CRT; unfortunately, that would be too simple. And in your opinion, why did the neighbor give away her old TV???

Mr. Bernorenard, you don't need to be a repairman to often fix things, and it’s said that this problem is common, and I have never thrown away a TV with a broken tube. I thought I understood from another post that you said it was dangerous to put your hands inside a TV, but if you used to work in the field, you must know what to do to intervene without any risk, right? -

we had a similar problem with a cathode TV.
The image was green.
We took it for repair, and we paid about €65, but it was a TV of about 82 cm diagonal.

just because you don't like the solution doesn't mean you have to give it a -1, it's only when it's useless that you should do that. -

If you repair it yourself Tarascon, it's rare for people to know how to do it.
A second-hand TV starts at around 50 euros.
Soon the digital version will come, so all these TVs will end up in the trash.
Look at life through rose-colored glasses and save for a digital one.
