Micrografx designer version 3.1

Designer 3-1 is in 32 bits
Windows 7 is in 64 bits, there is a glaring incompatibility.
The solution would be to find a 64-bit Micrografx Designer.
I am looking for one too.

After a bad update of a PC running Windows XP, I destroyed the installation of Designer 3.1.
I have also been using Designer for many years for my work, and today I can no longer access my files.
I am therefore interested in receiving a copy of the installation diskette, of course for a fee.

I easily solved the problem by loading VirtualBox.
Once this virtual machine was created, I installed XP using a CD as if it were a new computer.
And finally, I installed Designer, but also, and above all, my printer, PDFCreator, and Avast.
It works very well. In full screen, I have a PC running XP, and I can switch to W7 using Alt Tab. The mouse cursor capture works without a hitch. So I can work on Designer under XP and print, then create a PDF or a JPG for using the file under W7.

Apart from setting up the virtual machine (it can mess up if you start wanting to configure the resources to allocate), and of course the tedious installation of XP, old-school!!, the performance is smooth enough, and yet I don't have a very powerful computer: (AMD E450 dual-core, Radeon GPU, 8GB RAM (the only software that uses more than 4GB of this RAM is Photoshop), W7 64Bits, 1TB HDD)
What is a bit tricky at first is understanding that the virtual machine will work in network with the physical machine. So you need to share directories (this is done in the machine's configuration while it is turned off), then go open them in XP.

In use, once you get past the bad period of XP updates (I set it to SP2), you can afford to close VirtualBox while saving the state of the machine, which avoids having to restart XP. Very convenient.
In short, it’s the ideal solution when you only have one computer!

Oh yes! I do have an ISO image of Designer7, which can import .dsf files from Designer 3.1, as it creates .ds7 files, as well as a version of XP. If someone is missing something...
