Solved

Hello,

I use Thunderbird to receive and send messages from my email accounts, one of which is a Gmail account. It was working until now, but all of a sudden it has stopped working. I can download emails from Gmail on Thunderbird but I can't send them. The following message appears:
An error occurred while sending the mail. The mail server responded: 5.7.1 <eastvietnam@gmail.com>: Sender address rejected: not owned by user eastvietnam. Please check the recipient address eastvietnam@fpt.vn and try again.

If anyone can help me, I've checked all the outgoing server settings and they seem fine...

Thank you in advance
Configuration: Windows XP / Firefox 3.6.13

    Hello

Your error message doesn't seem to be related to your account but rather to your correspondent, who may have changed their identification or deleted it.

On the other hand, your message sends are not based on the sending account but on your default SMTP server.

    Hello,

Actually, I have the same error message with all correspondents (so presumably it's not an issue with the recipient's address). I don't have this problem when sending directly through Gmail, and the SMTP settings are correct, according to what I've seen online...

    Thank you

    Hello

Try using: smtp.gmail.com with port 465 and SSL

    It should work.

    Hello,
Thank you for this advice, but it's already set up like that and so it doesn't work. I even tried changing to port 587 and STARTTLS, but it doesn't change anything. The problem must come from elsewhere, but I don't know where. Maybe from the other outgoing server I'm using: omail.fpt.vn.

    Hello

If you have version 3.1.7 of Thunderbird and multiple SMTP servers, you can't be sure that the email will be sent from the correct address because it apparently chooses according to its own preference.

So check which one is active and set the correct parameters for it.

Thanks, actually I changed the outgoing server settings to default... for now it works! But since Thunderbird likes to play little tricks... you never know!
