Setup.exe not working issue

Solved

Good evening,

I have a small problem regarding the launch of one of my games. My CD starts up, but when I try to install it, my computer returns an error message indicating that setup.exe has encountered a problem. I have tried all compatibility modes but nothing works. I even tried installing it in safe mode and it's the same thing. My game is called Red Alert 2 and it's an original CD (I haven't copied the game...). Thank you in advance for any help you can provide.

Configuration: Windows XP / Safari 534.7

    Good evening,

If you're on Vista or maybe Seven, try running the exe by right-clicking/Run as administrator.

I have a friend who had a similar problem, and I told him to do that, and miracle...

    The joys of Windows:).

    Good evening,

Thank you for kindly helping me NimporteQui54. However, I am on Windows XP. Is the solution you were considering still possible or is there another solution? I also wondered if the CD was to blame, as I tried to install it on a friend's PC (Vista) and the installation started without any issue... Thanks again for being willing to help!

Arf, you can maybe try something:

Go to command prompt (programs ---> accessories)

    In the box you type:

    "drive letter"\"filename without extension".

For example, if it's Setup and it's on drive H:, you type: H:\Setup

    And it will launch.

Not sure if it will fix the issue, but give it a try; if it doesn't work, it will already be one less thing on the list, and otherwise, it's jackpot :D.
